“We’re establishing kind of a national model for what we do,” says Melissa Vito, vice provost of academic innovation at the University of Texas at San Antonio. “The faculty at UTSA have that same kind of sense of ‘This is a school on the move, and we want to keep our core values around support for students.’”
As one of the earliest Hispanic-serving institutions in the U.S. — and one that continues to serve as a pillar, with nearly 60 percent of students identifying as Hispanic — UTSA places a lot of emphasis on and pride in ensuring that innovation at the university keeps pace with the changing expectations of its students and the demands of the workforce.
The university is an Adobe Creative Campus, one of a few select colleges and universities across the globe that have made a commitment to building digital literacy skills in higher education. The program gives administrators, faculty, and students full access to Adobe Creative Cloud, as well as additional resources and support from Adobe.
