The Real Story of Core Commercial Real Estate: Challenging Your Assumptions
In the 1970’s, core commercial real estate was introduced to institutional investment portfolios to diversify risk, potentially enhance return, and provide an attractive income return. In the 50 years since, private real estate has become an integral component to investment portfolios of all types and sizes, however, not all real estate is created equal.
Today’s market presents unique challenges, opportunities, and solutions. Financial advisors portfolio managers are facing off with historically low interest rates and high duration, at a time when the spectre of inflation has arguably never been more pronounced. At the same time, equity valuations are historically high and investors are seeking to protect their downside risk.
Please join DWS to hear why we believe an allocation to core real estate should be an essential part of your investors’ portfolios and how we are informing our investment strategy to take advantage of the economy’s rapidly evolving usage of real estate.
Objective
Illustrate the historical benefits of core real estate in a diversified portfolio and provide an alternative solution for the biggest concerns facing today’s investors.

The Wasatch Emerging Markets Select strategy seeks long-term capital growth via investments in companies found throughout emerging markets that we see as the highest quality with the best prospects for long-duration success. Important aspects include the strategy’s 30- to 50-stock portfolio and its focus on risk management. We believe the Emerging Markets Select strategy can generate significant alpha while offering a differentiated portfolio of stocks that doesn’t focus on traditional emerging-market investments such as cyclical and commodity-oriented companies. Wasatch seeks to invest primarily in emerging-market companies benefitting from domestic demand. We seek to capitalize on the lack of correlation between emerging-market countries to provide the strategy with potentially less-volatile returns than passively managed portfolios. In addition, we seek to invest in companies with market capitalizations below those of companies typically covered by traditional emerging-market managers.
Workshop objective
Our goal is to connect with high quality RIAs seeking a differentiated actively managed strategy within emerging markets and to put the Wasatch Emerging Markets Select Fund on their radar.

Low Yields? Potential for rising rates? No Problem!
Explore an alternative income strategy that seeks to help income-oriented investors navigate the challenging low-rate environment.
Despite all the chatter about inflation and higher interest rates, the yield on 10-Year Treasuries remains stubbornly low, hovering below 1.5%. That’s a problem for many income-oriented investors. So how might investors potentially capture more yield without significantly ratcheting up the risk?
Join Senior Portfolio Manager, Scott Kefer, as he discusses alternative income strategies that seek the trifecta of benefits many investors seek: attractive income, low correlation to both stocks and bonds and a level of volatility in line with traditional bond indexes.
Workshop objective
Why alternative income should be a long-term, strategic position in your portfolio
Benefits of uncorrelated yield as an attractive source of potential income
How to allocate to alternative income as part of a diversified portfolio
Low Yields? Potential for rising rates? No Problem!
