More than a decade of underperformance of global markets relative to the US has many investors debating the efficacy of allocating internationally, given growth and demographic challenges and elevated risks. In the current paradigm, is the case for international compelling, or is it merely a distraction from the steady returns enjoyed in domestic markets? As the global recovery matures, the rest of the world is likely to catch up to the US. And, given the sharp valuation discounts and differentiated exposure, seeking alpha through international investing may be worth a closer look.
Workshop objective
Provide insights on the global market recovery, international market dynamics and the potential for long-term structural growth for alpha-seeking equity investors.

We believe many of the most important investment opportunities today are linked to long-term mega trends including the digitization of businesses, cloud computing, e-commerce, and the genomic revolution, amongst others. However, many investors remain underexposed to the most disruptive and successful companies in these industries as many of them reside in the overlooked mid-cap segment of the U.S. equity market. We seek to provide investors exposure to this area of the market we feel will continue to be one of the biggest drivers of future equity returns. We do so by focusing on well-managed companies that can sustain above-average growth rates while seeking to avoid excess risk.
Workshop objective
Inform investors about the mid-cap growth segment of the market as an important and overlooked opportunity for wealth creation while highlighting our track record of successfully capitalizing on these opportunities.

Changes to individual and corporate tax rates, the loss of advanced refunding and limitations placed on state and local tax (SALT) deduction have sparked an upheaval in the municipal market. Retail investors have shifted away from individual bond ownership which has nearly tripled assets in municipal mutual funds over the last 10 years. Municipal finances have once again shown their resiliency and credit fundamentals are the best in years thanks to strong Federal support. The lack of spread and yield pick-up across sectors and credit qualities has pushed valuations to a level that requires a new approach. It requires thinking outside the style box and abandoning traditional duration driven allocation methods. In its place: a flexible, not tactical, strategy with broad credit and duration mandates but stringent risk tolerances managed by a nimble team.
Workshop objective
Upheaval in the municipal market requires investors to think outside the style box when allocating to the space.

The start of 2021 and the promise of broad vaccine distribution bring a sigh of relief to many. Over the past year, the global economy has been contorted by a painful pandemic, gyrations in production and spending, and significant stress on households and businesses around the world. Credit markets have weathered the stress with resiliency, supported in part by solid global monetary and fiscal policies. Issuer adoption of debt-friendly behavior, including the channeling of free cash flow into debt reduction and lowering fixed costs, may help credit spreads test the pre-global financial crisis as the “Golden Age of Credit” continues.

In a market increasingly featuring speculative excesses, investors run the risk of falling victim to FOMO, or the fear of missing out. We believe that now more than ever, investors need to tune out the noise and re-focus on sustainable earnings growth, which tends to drive value creation over the long term. We’ll discuss our approach to finding growth while mitigating risk, and how digitalization is driving what we believe will be the next generation of market leaders.
Workshop objective
We will discuss our approach to selectively investing in leading growth businesses and provide examples of lesser-known businesses that we believe will be key drivers and/or beneficiaries of digitalization.
