Investing in US equities currently is more challenging than ever. There is uncertainty regarding the economy given the rebound in COVID-19 cases, uncertainty about mega cap tech stocks due to potential regulation, uncertainty about the direction of interest rates and Fed policy, and uncertainty about the prospects for equities due to above average valuations. Given these uncertainties, we think now may be the time to shift passive equity exposure to an actively managed large cap US core fund. In this session, we explore the case for active equity management, and how US Pioneer Fund is positioned to exploit uncertainty.
Workshop objective:
Learn why now may be the best time in over 10 years for active US equity managers
Understand the conditions under which value may outperform growth
Learn how the Amundi US Pioneer Fund has navigated the pandemic and is positioned for the current environment
The Time for Active Management is Now

The presentation will cover how investors can use equities to achieve income needs. Equity dividends can be a key component to meeting immediate investor spending needs, and dividend growth can provide increasing income streams over time to meet growing income needs and offset inflation risk. Additionally, a strategy of selectively writing covered calls on a dividend equity portfolio can generate additional income through options premiums. The presentation will discuss the optimal approaches to generating income through dividends and option writing from equities relative to opportunity, valuation, inflation, and other risks.
Workshop objective:
Participants will gain insight into utilizing equities to provide income to investors through harnessing dividends, dividend growth and covered call writing.

With yields around the world near record low levels, emerging markets sovereign debt remains one of the few areas of the fixed income market offering attractive levels of yields at near investment grade levels. The market itself is highly diversified with more than 70 issuers, including well established countries like China and Mexico, to lesser known borrowers like Mongolia or Senegal. In this session we will discuss the outlook for the asset class in the face of seemingly growing inflationary pressures, ongoing pandemic related concerns and what appears to be a new super cycle for commodities.
Workshop objective:
Highlight how an active and holistic approach to EM fixed income and currencies can add value to investors in a yield starved world.

The search for attractive long-term growth is an evergreen quest for all investors. Finding that growth while also trying to avoid sharp market losses is an even more challenging task.
What can investors do to achieve the growth their portfolios require? Consider the diversifying benefits of higher-yield credit as a way to manage equity risk without forgoing the pursuit of attractive longer-term returns.
For an equity investor, credit can be best understood as a diversifying return stream that retains upside potential with lower volatility than equity alone.
Workshop objective:
To make the case for positioning the Virtus GF Select High Yield Fund as a portfolio diversifier, capable of delivering competitive risk-adjusted returns and high current income.
