As most developed market central banks start to consider removing extraordinary monetary accommodation, volatility is likely to rise in the future. Therefore investors need to take a more selective and flexible approach to investing in the fixed income universe. Edmond de Rothschild Fund Bond Allocation is an appropriate solution to meet these new market challenges. The fund takes an active approach to managing duration within a [-2 to +8yr] bracket, a big plus at a time of fast moving interest rate markets. The fund also strives for selecting the most attractive sectors in the fixed income space in order to maximise returns over risk, trough time. Workshop objective: The objective of this workshop is to present the best approach to invest in the bond markets and capture their opportunities in the current environment.

The luxury sector has delivered substantial shareholder value in recent years, achieving multi-year compounded returns that have exceeded global GDP and the broader global and emerging market (EM) equities universe. We expect this to continue in the long-term as the fundamentals of the sector are well underpinned, thanks to its exposure to the powerful structural thematic of growing emerging middle-class consumption. The nature of the luxury consumer is changing rapidly - being typically Asian, younger and more online-savvy than previously - and we believe the lasting consumer changes from Covid-19 (more focus on e-commerce and trusted brands) will drive sustained growth for the next decade to come. Moreover, sustainability is at the heart of luxury with its ethos of “buy less, buy better”, validating the sector’s credentials in the eyes of millennial and Gen Z consumers. The accelerating sector polarisation between winners and losers favours bottom-up active investing. Workshop objective: We will discuss the luxury sector as an attractive, secular investment theme given its exposure to emerging market growth at a developed market cost of capital.

Fed up of low developed market yields and tight spreads? You’d love to be able to access the higher growth and higher spreads in EM debt, but have a sustainability constraint? Feel frustrated no longer! We’re delighted to present the latest article 8 compliant strategy in our EM debt roster, the “Sustainable Emerging Markets debt” fund. PM Sergey Goncharov will explain how, as with our flagship EMD fund, we optimize the spread from this already generous asset class. And by adding our proprietary “sustainable waterfall”, are able to offer “sustainable spread optimization” to yield and income hungry Italian investors. We look forward to discussing this opportunity with you! Workshop objective: The compact and agile investment team of experienced emerging market specialists uses a proprietary sustainability model to define the investment universe. The team focuses on optimizing the level of spread for a given level of risk. Based on in-depth research and using a proprietary valuation model, the portfolio managers continuously compare the levels of remuneration potential available across issuer qualities, countries, interest rates, currencies and maturities within the investment universe to identify the most rewarding opportunities, which may be contrarian to mainstream views. To seize them, the team flexibly adapts the portfolio while keeping credit, interest rate and currency risks in check.
