The Citywire New Model Adviser® Annual Conference and Awards is back, and we can’t wait to see you on March 3-4 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London.
Having missed out on last year’s event, we are delighted to confirm the 2022 event will go ahead live and in-person. There is so much to catch up on and we plan to honour the occasion in style.
Throughout the event, advisers will have the chance to hear from (and quiz) a range of top fund managers. We will also have three keynote sessions throughout the event, from brilliant speakers who we have carefully selected.
And of course, there will be evening entertainment to accompany our regional and national advice awards. We’ll be giving out awards to the top new model firms in each of eight UK regions, plus a prize for national businesses.

We are working closely with our host venue on Covid safe measures as we return to physical events and the in-person engagement that we have all missed. Our Covid protocols will reflect the local requirements at the time of the event and our Delegate Liaison team will be in touch in the weeks before with exact details of what these will be. For more information at this stage please contact the team on delegateliaison@citywire.co.uk
In a career that encompasses the UN, Google, Facebook and SpaceX, as well as political speechwriting, Dex offers a rare insight in to the intersection of politics, technology, leadership and society. Referring to some of the world’s biggest and most influential companies and individuals, he examines important questions of trust, automation, innovation and values. Looking at the positive and negative effects of an increasingly connected world he sees ethical dilemmas, new types of job, competing priorities and a focus on purpose.
Dex Hunter-Torricke has worked with some of the world’s highest-profile leaders and organisations, advising them on areas of communication and thought leadership. Amongst others, he has worked as a speechwriter and advisor for Larry Page and Sergei Brin, Mark Zuckerberg, and Elon Musk’s SpaceX. He now serves as Head of Commuinications at The Oversight Board, the independent body established to tackle and steer the responses of Facebook and Instagram to the most challenging content issues of the day. He brings together communication, policy, leadership and technology, looking at how business, government and society can both understand each other, and work together better.

How do we decide who wins a New Model Adviser® Award?
We use a points-based system developed in partnership with AKG. AKG is an independent organisation specialising in the provision of assessment, ratings, information and consultancy to the financial services industry.
Financial advice businesses completed an in-depth survey and were awarded points for factors such as: staff qualifications, a well thought out investment proposition, a carefully segmented client base, good use of technology, clear business goals, sharing best practice, and investment in the next generation of advisers. Additionally, this year we have looked at firms’ websites and client fee agreements. We awarded points to those who go the extra mile to make their services and charges as clear as possible to new and existing clients.
This year we have also introduced a brand-new category: best national advice firm.
This prize has been created in addition to the regional awards. It recognises those of the biggest businesses doing a great job for clients and staff. To be defined as a national, firms needed to have over 10 branches or if they had over 60 RIs, over five branches. And no more than 75% of a firm’s advisers or offices could reside in one region.
