Our Wealth Manager Forums are back, and we would be delighted to have you join us at The Lowry Hotel, Manchester, on November 9.
We are very excited for the return of this event. While the last 18 months hardly need a recap, it is fair to say that they have put international economies in a fascinating position, and we now face the task of figuring out what comes next.
This Forum intends to make these next steps easier to navigate. A selection of influential fund managers will join us in Manchester to share their insights from the lockdown and their expectations for the years to follow. We will consider ‘the new normal’, if there is one, as well as the implications of remote working, climate change, technological improvement and more.
There will be winners and losers as we emerge from the pandemic. This Forum will shine a light on the opportunities that can be found and offer a glimpse of the economies of tomorrow. This is as good a time as any to consider new strategies, viewpoints and concepts.
Markets aside, there is another facet to this event that is particularly important, and that is the chance to see you again in person. It has been so uplifting to see people again and we expect some lively and overdue discussion, uninterrupted by pets, children or delivery drivers.
Best wishes,

Provide access to multiple long-term growth themes in a risk aware and diversified manner through a fund that leverages LGIM’s thematic investing approach.
Workshop objective
How can you gain access to long-term structural and foundational shifts; and aim to benefit from areas that are positively disrupting the way we do things; and invest in companies that are disrupting the incumbents and shaping the future?
We wanted to make it easier than ever to access these potential growth opportunities, by creating a single point of entry to a diversified, risk-balanced portfolio of companies involved in multiple long-term themes identified through expert research. By combining actively researched investment universes and actively designed thematic investment strategies with a quantitative allocation model to balance risk exposures, the Legal & General Global Thematic Fund can aim to help investors looking for long-term growth, without having to pick and choose between themes.

Understand how Lord Abbett’s holistic approach, which marries 50-years of multi-sector experience with a corporate mission of sustainability, combines support for climate stewardship with an attractive and diversified risk/reward profile.
Workshop objective
Investor focus on addressing climate change continues to increase, and reflects growing societal awareness, corporate initiative and government regulation and intervention.
The green bond market is an increasingly attractive avenue for governments and companies to secure funding for climate-oriented initiatives. However, this market is characterized by longer dated, lower coupon bonds.
For investors who want to support climate-positive endeavours without undue rate duration exposure, we believe a multi-sector approach may provide a more attractive risk/reward profile.
Lord Abbett’s expertise in multi-sector fixed income investing could provide a robust foundation for investors seeking to invest in sustainability, harnessing the potential benefits of active management through a relative value risk-aware approach.

• Outline of factors which make this cycle different to previous ones
• Overview of the structural drivers including fiscal packages and sustainable investment
• Why cyclicals and value seem to be well placed to capitalise on these short and long term drivers.
Workshop objective
Asset markets are questioning the durability of economic growth, impacting value/cyclicals to the benefit of growth/quality assets. We believe this ignores a number of near term drivers specific to this cycle that shape our differentiated view. In addition there are mid-long term supports to the economy from fiscal stimulus and sustainable investment which suggest a multi-year cycle. Such an environment would be very supportive for value and cyclical stocks in general, and specifically for those companies exposed to these structural drivers. In our view, these are also the areas of the market with greatest valuation support.

Ness Knight is a record-breaking explorer and endurance adventurer who became the first female in history to swim the Thames River in 2013. Ness has traversed some of the most diverse terrain in all corners of the planet, overcoming huge obstacles and extreme conditions in remote environments. Ness’ career as an adventurer began in 2012 when she quit her 9-5 and set off to stand up paddleboarded over 1000 miles down the Missouri River, completing the longest stand up paddleboard journey by any female. She continued her USA journey, swapping paddling for pedalling as she cycled 2000 miles across the USA solo, following the old Route 66. In 2013 Ness swam the Thames River from it’s source to Putney Bridge, London. She followed the swim on by running 15 marathons in 15 days, from London to Land’s End to complete a 600 mile solo duathlon. In 2016 Ness cycled across Bolivia with no money. The expedition opened her eyes to a world that so many people on our planet experience every day, one that is stripped bare of the comfort of having a safe, warm place to sleep at night with the gut-wrenching knowledge that having one meal a day is good fortune, not a given.
Ness has just completed an expedition that saw her traverse one of the most desolate, hot and inhospitable environments in the world solo; the Namib Desert region in northern Namibia.
Next she will be setting out to break a new world record, this time taking on the vast Pacific Ocean aiming to become the first female in history to row solo, non stop and unassisted across the Pacific, from North America to Australia. This means Ness won’t be setting foot on land for the 7000 miles, and 6-9 months of rowing, that lie between the two continents.
