Founder of Ad Lucem, Phil’s experience in financial services research and communications spans 20 years and all corners of the provider, agency and research worlds. In that time, he has worked with insurers, asset managers, platforms and banks, providing a real and continuing understanding of what is happening – and about to happen – across financial markets. He has given invaluable insight into what key advisers and consumer groups value, and supplied fully integrated thought leadership programs and actionable plans to drive business growth. Phil was most recently managing director of Cicero Research, having sold the FS Research consultancy (So Here’s The Plan) he founded and led for eight years. With a penchant for launching businesses in recessions, Phil had some of his hunches confirmed by the late Covid lockdown:
And so, from a socially distant but creatively close
spark, the Ad Lucem Collective was born.
• The old agency model, if it isn’t broken, is expensive and unnecessarily unwieldy at best.
• This means that too often clients don’t get the quality, expertise and value they deserve.
• There has to be a better way to serve you.

The economic and market turmoil of the past few years – to say nothing of the materially changing tax environment – have altered the context in which financial advice is given and received.
In response to this, HSBC (with Technical Connection and Ad-Lucem) have carried out in-depth adviser and consumer research with resulting expert analysis and insight on the three i's of investable capital – investment, income and inheritance. In our webinar, Mark Lambert, Head of Onshore Bond Distribution at HSBC Life, Tony Wickenden, Managing Director of Technical Connection, and Phil Wickenden, founder of Ad Lucem, will consider all of these developments – in particular, their impact on the direction of financial planning and appropriate wrapper choice for investable capital.
