For 2020, Citywire Scotland is going virtual, moving from its usual home of Gleneagles to your home. On behalf of the whole Citywire team it is my pleasure to invite you to join us on Wednesday 28th October.
Now in its tenth year, we had of course hoped to be able to see you all in person, alas this cannot be. Instead, we have built an engaging virtual event that we hope you will find extremely useful.
In the long and fine tradition of Citywire Scotland we will once again be bringing you all together for:
1. A selection of leading fund managers providing an insight into their strategies along with detailed examinations of the markets;
2. Keynote speakers carefully selected for their expertise that we feel will help you in your work;
3. An educational event endorsed by the CISI which will earn you 4.5 hours of structured CPD.
As ever, your fund manager presentations will be contextualised by thought-proving keynote speakers and this year you will hear from:
Tim Harford
Tim is a world-renowned behavioural economist, award-winning Financial Times columnist, and BBC broadcaster. He has been described as 'a genius at telling stories that illuminate our world' and ‘perhaps the best popular economics writer in the world’. He will be looking at the truth behind dubious statistics and manipulated figures, while also examining the science behind – and lessons from - disasters and successes.
Prof. Devi Sridhar
Speaking on a hugely topical theme, Devi Sridhar is Professor of Global Public Health at the University of Edinburgh and is the founding director of the Global Health Governance Programme. She will be examining the consequences of the public health emergency we have all faced in 2020, and assessing where we go from here. A very timely talk indeed.
We do hope you will be able to join us on the 28th October for the 10th Citywire Scotland - and the first Citywire Scotland Virtual!
Register today to secure your place and save the date in your calendar.
All the best,

Tim Harford is a world-renowned behavioural economist, an award-winning Financial Times columnist, and a BBC broadcaster.
With a knack for finding fascinating explanations for everyday numbers, Tim’s first two books, The Logic of Life and The Undercover Economist, have been translated into 30 languages and sold well over a million copies. His Radio 4 show More or Less looks at the truth behind dubious statistics and manipulated figures. His podcast Cautionary Tales examines the science behind and the lessons from disasters and successes. He also hosts the BBC's radio series and podcast Fifty Things That Made The Modern Economy, as well as writing the accompanying book.
Whilst he’s a ‘serious’ economist with a career spanning Oxford, Shell and the World Bank, Tim’s FT columns dwell on the economics of daily life and offer tongue-in-cheek solutions to readers’ problems. His first book built on these themes and The Undercover Economist was likened to Freakonomics in its examination and explanation of the workings of everything from coffee shops to organised crime to development aid. He's since gone on to be one of the foremost writers on economics and his work has won multiple awards.
