Citywire Wealth Manager
Conference & Awards 2023
We look forward to celebrating the wealth management industry once again, bringing together the best and the brightest from across the UK and Channel Islands. We will also hear from carefully selected keynote speakers to address some of the most pressing issues, in what are challenging economic and societal conditions.
Opening the event will be the Rt Hon Baroness Morgan of Cotes, Nicky Morgan. Morgan served as Secretary of State for Digital, Sports, Media and Culture until 2020, a role in which she oversaw the regulation of social media platforms, and the rollout of faster broadband and 5G across the United Kingdom. Previously she had served as a senior cabinet minister under David Cameron, where she was responsible for education, women and equalities.
After lunch we will hear from Colin MacLachlan, star of Channel Four's captivating reality TV drama SAS: Who Dares Wins and Channel 5’s Secrets of the SAS. An operator with over 25 years of security and risk-related experience, MacLachlan has had both an exciting and varied career. He will speak on a wide variety of topics including resilience, teamwork, leadership, risk, motivation, conflict resolution, change management, negotiation and performance.
Friday morning will get underway with paralympian Martine Wright MBE. Wright lost both legs in the 7/7 London bombings, and now has 40 caps for Great Britain in sitting volleyball. She was honoured with the BBC Helen Rollason Award at the Sports Personality of the Year awards in 2012. Her remarkable story is one of suffering and recovery, determination and self-belief.
As ever, there will be an opportunity to engage with influential fund managers, providing insight into their strategies for navigating the present, and identifying opportunities as we consider what comes next. There is much to consider, from the geopolitical shockwaves emanating from the conflict in Ukraine, to the political turmoil and cost-of-living crisis closer to home.
