What attracted you to the A/E/C industry?
Vice President – Southwest Region, CRG
10 Years in Construction & Development
My dad was a custom home builder growing up and I always dreamed of building houses and following in his footsteps. However, it was my love for math, science, and engineering lead me to my civil engineering degree in anticipation of going into the construction industry. I started out working for Clark Construction for 4 years and then decided to shift gears into Development. I obtained my master’s in Real Estate and then came to work for CRG. I am not the 4th generation “builder” in my family but the first female!
What is an accomplishment, milestone, or obstacle that influenced you in your career?
Being promoted to Vice President of the Southwest Region was a
huge milestone in my career and validated my development, growth,
and competency as a real estate professional. Though construction
and development may seem closely related, shifting from the former to the latter was a big transition and involved essentially starting over in my education and career. Like construction, there are few females that function as true “developers,” probably even less than female construction project managers. I’ve been fortunate enough to grow my career within CRG just as CRG itself was maturing as a well-respected development firm, taking advantage of numerous opportunities to spread my wings. Though there’s still so much to learn, the promotion symbolized and validated my achievement of becoming a developer.
