HEAD OF THE CLASS
Do you know a teacher who is truly at the Head of the Class?!
Head of the Class recognizes educators in Northeast Ohio for making a difference in their students’ lives both inside and outside the classroom. Head of the Class educators must work to ensure the academic success of their students, be involved in their school community and set an example for students and educators alike.
SUPPORTED by Huntington
The Cleveland Cavaliers Community Foundation and Huntington are offering $50,000 in scholarship funds to Northeast Ohio high school seniors. Through the Scholarship Program, ten (10) graduating seniors will be selected and awarded a $5,000 scholarship to attend college, vocational/trade school, or similar education course that will provide a certification or degree during the 2023-2024 academic year. Scholarship funds can be applied to verifiable costs associated with college or a vocational/trade school, including tuition, fees, books, and other related educational expenses.
Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, outstanding community service, and need.
This is the 32nd year Huntington has partnered with the Cavs to provide college scholarships to graduating seniors in Northeast Ohio.

NBA Math Hoops leverages the game of basketball and the NBA/WNBA to build fundamental math and social-emotional skills through a physical and digital basketball-themed board game, a curriculum, and a community program experience. The free program targets grades 3-8 across in-school, out-of-school, and home learning environments. Educators can feel confident in knowing that there are program features that fit into any learning environment. The NBA Math Hoops game features the real-life performance statistics and identities of all NBA and WNBA players, providing an exciting, culturally-relevant hook to engage students of all genders and ethnicities, and representing a highly diverse community of athletes in a data-rich learning environment. Students draft a team of NBA and WNBA players, and compete individually or in teams of two to solve quick math problems and score points. Gameplay simulates the game of basketball as teams switch from offense to defense in a fast-paced, timed setting. Students are incentivized to think critically and craft strategy using number sense and statistical analysis.
