Do you know a teacher who is truly at the Head of the Class?
Head of the Class recognizes educators in Northeast Ohio for making a difference in their students’ lives both inside and outside the classroom. Head of the Class educators must work to ensure the academic success of their students, be involved in their school and local communities, and set an example for students and educators alike. Winning teachers will receive a memorable experience at a Cavs game and $500 gift card to use towards classroom needs.

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AND SPIDACARES
The Cavaliers Community Foundation and Huntington Bank will award a total of $50,000 in scholarship funds to five (5) Northeast Ohio high school seniors. In addition, five (5) semifinalists will receive a $1,000 Huntington savings account. Eligible applicants must be a graduating high school senior with a permanent residence in Northeast Ohio and committed to attending college, vocational/trade school, or similar education that will provide a certificate or degree.
This is the 35th year Huntington has partnered with the Cavs to provide scholarships to graduating seniors in Northeast Ohio.
HBCU SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Rhymes with Reason helps students learn important English words by showcasing their existence in widely known music lyrics. The interactive, web based program provides an engaging and equitable solution to vocabulary access to students from diverse backgrounds. Rhymes with Reason also provides student workshops, customized curriculum guides, and surveys that help students build vocabulary and literacy skills in English Language Arts, health and wellness, college and career readiness, civics and more.
For the 2025-26 season, the Cavs are proud to bring the Rhymes with Reason program to 6th and 7th grade students at Milkovich Middle School in Maple Heights and members of select Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio.

SCORE with Reading championed by Cleveland-Cliffs is designed to help students develop a passion for reading while promoting the importance of literacy. This challenge, which will run from November 3rd to December 5th, is open to 2nd and 3rd grade students and classrooms in Northeast Ohio. Participating students will have a goal to read a minimum of 100 minutes each week, for a total of 400 minutes during the entire challenge. Prizes and incentives will be awarded to top readers and classrooms.

NBA MATH HOOPS
NBA Math Hoops, a program of Learn Fresh, leverages the game of basketball and the NBA/WNBA brands to build fundamental math skills through a physical and digital basketball-themed board game, a curriculum, and a community program experience. Designed for students in grades 4-8, this free program develops students’ algebra readiness prior to entering high school, while strengthening important skills including self-regulation and executive function. The NBA Math Hoops program is implemented in in-school, out-of-school, and home learning environments.

CAVS ACADEMY OVERTIME
A study published by the American Journal of Preventive Medicine found afterschool
physical activity programs are the most impactful way to reduce risk of obesity in
children ages 6 – 12. The Cavs Academy Overtime Program is our commitment to
meet student athletes where they are by providing a fun, competitive and engaging
basketball atmosphere that supports their physical and mental health and wellness.
This four-week program takes place after school for one hour and is run by a team
of basketball coaches comprised of former college, high school and professional
athletes & coaches. They will provide a competitive environment that promotes teamwork, individual accomplishment, and healthy living, allowing themselves to be
the best version of themselves on and off the court.

SOCIAL IMPACT ACADEMY
The Cavs Social Impact Academy is a 9-month program designed for high school juniors and seniors. The program introduces students to local leaders and provides opportunities to examine a range of community issues. Each participant develops a Capstone Project that addresses a topic of personal interest and promotes positive change. Engaging topics include: Civic Engagement & Voting, Social Justice & Advocacy, The Power of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Volunteerism & Community service, and Community Investment & Leadership. 20 Students participate in monthly sessions from September 2025 through May 2026, using a combination of virtual meetings and in-person gatherings across Cleveland, Ohio.
