Self-Care
& Cancer
Hydration
Staying hydrated is important for people with lymphoma, as dehydration is a typical side effect of treatments like chemotherapy and radiation.
Nutrition
During treatment, focus
on fruits, veggies and unprocessed foods low in fat. Cut out alcohol as it can inflame your liver and negatively affect treatment.
Sleep
Because some treatments
can cause sleep disturbances, cut back on caffeine and develop a calming nighttime routine to encourage better
sleep hygiene.
Support
Depend on friends and family members to create a support system. Only include those you’re most comfortable with.
Vaccines
Be sure to maintain your regular primary care regimen, and try to get your annual immunizations — including flu and COVID-19 vaccines — before your treatment begins.
Exercise
Consult your doctor about potential exercise routines. Exercise not only helps heart function and muscle and bone strength, but also helps relieve stress and anxiety.
