Program Overview
Interns are provided with an all-encompassing opportunity to work with a team through all phases of a construction project. We offer both summer and co-op internship opportunities, so the experience gained from Clune’s Internship Program may supplement education from your university. During the summer program, concurrent with their day-to-day responsibilities, interns also participate in an 8-week long learning project where they learn the full lifecycle of a construction project.

“Becoming an Intern at Clune Construction was inspiring and helped open my eyes to the day-to-day challenges that one must overcome... I gravitated more towards being a Project Manager and Clune made sure to equip me with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to be successful in my career. I was able to receive and accept a full-time offer prior to starting my last semester of college at Illinois State University and I haven’t looked back since. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

"Being an intern in the 90’s was a lot different than that of today, but what remains the same is the exposure to great people, new opportunities and to be a part of the inner workings of construction management. Being a Civil Engineering major I never had the idea of being a General Contractor, but my internship changed all of that and I’m glad it did."
"I had done internships with other general contractors, but Clune was distinctively unique. At Clune I was given real responsibilities to adapt to, to help accelerate my learning experience. The culture around the office was so refreshing to see with such friendship and openness that it made my experience that much better. I was offered full time employment upon my graduation and I have been with Clune 3 years now..."

“I am forever grateful to Clune for giving me the opportunity to intern
and gain experience within the construction industry during college.
My internship experience with Clune better prepared me for when I
started my career full time and allowed for my transition from college to
career to be a smoother one. As an intern, I was able to see how a GC
operated, what specific roles consisted of, and how a project team works
together to accomplish one common goal. It also helped me envision where I saw myself in the future and gave me a clearer path to reach my goals. My internship experience was a very rewarding one and my advice to any college student is to take any opportunity you have to intern before beginning your full-time position.”

“Being a safety intern at Clune was a wonderful experience, both personally and professionally. Starting as a recent college graduate with an emphasis in safety from Northern Illinois University, I had no construction experience. With proper direction and guidance, I was given all the tools needed to succeed. I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to stay on, when the summer internship was over. And when the opportunity to move to the Clune Los Angeles office came up, I jumped on it. I consider myself very lucky to be a part of Clune and to be able to grow along with the continued company growth. In the past five years, as a member of the safety department I have been able to assist in establishing the safety program. Being a part of something bigger than yourself is very rewarding.”

“When I started as an IT intern I was brought up to speed gradually through on the job training, I'd learn a new aspect of IT responsibilities each week and add it to my repertoire until I was operating at the level of a full time Systems Technician. In my experience a Clune internship is a great way to learn a lot about a profession very quickly.”
