Shyla: The Ozone provides critical protection from the sun's rays. And so if there were no ozone in the atmosphere, many NASA scientists have evaluated that it would effectively sterilize the Earth's surface, because UVB radiation is incredibly strong and incredibly damaging. It can cause mutations in DNA and genetic structure. It can cause animals and even people to go blind. And so ultimately, if we didn't have this ozone layer covering the surface of the planet, then life as we know it would not exist."
