Submissions for the Generation Next 2022 mentorship program are now open
Generation Next is Teen Vogue's annual celebration of the next wave of diverse fashion designers. This year, the talent incubator will have an official application process with a board of judges who will serve as mentors to fashion design students and provide resources to make it in an evolving industry. Part fund, part advisory board, part incubator, part demystifying the industry — Generation Next's intent is to support and elevate young designers who have something to say through design.

Each of the final winners will be awarded a sum of $5,000 and professional consultation with one of the six judges.

Applicants should be enrolled in an accredited university or college and have a strong interest in fashion design. Entry requires a lookbook or visual sample of work to be critiqued by the panels of six judges.

The deadline to apply is May 18, 2022 at midnight EST. Applicants will be asked to submit a visual example of their work and eventually a video interview before being chosen.

Lebanese-Canadian designer, writer, advocate and public speaker. She is the founder of Slow Factory, a 501c3 public service organization working at the intersection of environmental and social justice, which produces a conference series promoting sustainability literacy called Study Hall, and the first
science-driven incubator in fashion called One X One. She is on the Council of Progressive International, has been
a Director's Fellow of MIT Media Lab, and served on the Board of Directors
of AIGA NY, a nonprofit membership organization that helps cultivate the future of design in New York City.

Sheena Sood is the designer and founder of abacaxi, a fashion line named after the Portuguese word for pineapple, that focuses on handcrafted techniques, natural fibers, and an innovative play on traditional silhouettes. She is also a visual artist; bold color and an interest in the ancient, spiritual and psychedelic realms are a few themes connecting her work in art and design. Sheena has over a decade of experience working as a textile, concept + color specialist for brands such as Tracy Reese, Cole Haan, and Anthropologie. She studied Visual Art and Comparative Literature at Brown University, and Textile Design at Central Saint Martins College in London, and at The Rhode Island School of Design. Sheena was an artist-in-residence at MASS MoCA in 2017, and at Pocoapoco Residency in Oaxaca, Mexico in 2021.

Sharifa is an American fashion, business, and lifestyle expert. She currently serves as Chief of Impact at Kith, where she spearheads the brand’s diversity and social impact initiatives. Sharifa previously served as co-founder of premier fashion trade shows Liberty Fairs and the PROJECT alongside her
mentor, Sam Ben-Avraham. Her philanthropic work includes The Brooklyn Intern and The Kin Foundation – which provide opportunities within the fashion industry to young creatives – and sitting on the boards of Africa Health Now and the Black Fashion Council.

Maria Raga is the CEO of Depop. Since being promoted to the position in 2016 from VP of Operations, she has presided over every element of the business, from finance and engineering to marketing and product. An open and collaborative CEO, Maria is dedicated to her team, which has grown to 300+ employees in
five offices worldwide, in the last five years alone. Perhaps most importantly, since she took over as CEO, she has raised close to $100M in funding, which has helped to grow and nurture the community on Depop - now 26m+ users. Prior to Depop, Maria held successively roles at Groupon and Privalia. After
graduating from Insead MBA, Maria joined Bain & Company as a consultant. Born in Valencia, Spain, Maria now resides in London with her husband and three children. In her spare time, Maria enjoys connecting with Depop’s entrepreneurial Gen-Z community and promoting women in the workplace.
