Cisco’s innovative solution enables doctors to collaborate and discuss patient-care options remotely in a secure digital environment. It lessens the amount of travel required for medical professionals to consult on treatment options, cutting the time needed to agree on next steps, reducing variation in patient treatment pathways, and supporting socially distant care. For brain-cancer patients, the time frame for deciding treatment strategies went from six to eight weeks to just one.

Cisco announced a collaborative initiative with the National Library of South Africa to launch a series of digital libraries across the country and
help address the widening digital skills gap. Funded by CDA, the learning hubs are equipped with computers and internet connectivity, and allow access to courses offered through the Cisco Networking Academy. The program is helping to train the next generation of technology leaders coming out of southern Africa.
The CDA Program has partnered with Idaho’s Water District 63 to invest in automated water management. Agriculture is one of the most advanced industries in the world, yet water management is one of the few areas that
has yet to fully incorporate the benefits of 21st century technology. The Idaho project optimizes water management by employing real-time data capture and instant decision making regarding when to water and how much. This is a critical step forward in particular for Rocky Mountain and Midwestern states, where efficiency is critical and severe drought an ever looming threat. Cisco is working to change that.
How digitization improves health care, education, and sustainability around the world.
