Competition
Our annual competition is open to South African grain farmers (18+) planting at least two hectares of a SA-registered Pioneer maize, soybean or sunflower variety.

Pioneer, a global leader in plant genetics, supports farmers with high-quality seeds & expert agronomic advice to enhance productivity & sustainability. This competition helps farmers improve yields, adopt best practices, and optimize crop management.
To enter the Grain SA Grow for Gold Competition, Pioneer farmers must enter the "Weeg & Wen" competition with their Pioneer Agent in order for the entry to be valid and stand a chance to win.

What Are the Prizes?
When you enter "Weeg & Wen", and you are one of the top 3 finalists in a category, we send your entry in to Grain SA's National Grow for Gold Competition. We carry the entry fees worth R1000 each.
At Grow for Gold you can win monetary prices per category.
*If you are the winner of one of our "Weeg & Wen" 5 main categories, you win a leisure prize, to the destination of your choice, to the value of R15000.
The 5 main categories are:
Overall Dryland Maize - East
Overall Dryland Maize - West
Overall Irrigation Maize
Overall Soybean
Overall Sunflower

2025 Categories
Sunflower Entry Additional Requirements
For all sunflower entries, a sample must be retained.
This can be any sample larger than 250 g, as long as it is representative of the original sample.
