Why I became a Financial Planner?
Like a lot of people, I rather stumbled across financial services, although my father was a stockbroker so I had a little knowledge of the sector. I switched to financial advice in 2008 so that I could get a better picture of clients’ overall circumstances, rather than focussing solely on investment.
Specialist areas of advice I find rewarding.
The predominance of what I do is advise private clients on the areas of financial planning that are relevant to them – any or all of pre- and post-retirement planning, business exits, estate planning, investment strategies and tax efficiency.
I also help charities with the investment of their long term reserves.
What's important to me when delivering advice?
Our independence at Crowe means that we can really provide clients with the best advice from the whole of market for their specific situations.
My favourite book and film.
I love the books of Harlan Coben but if I were picking just one novel, it would likely be The Lord of the Rings.
With films, anything from The Godfather II to Toy Story 3. Clearly, I must like a sequel. Top Gun: Maverick was immense, too.
What matters to you most in three words?
Family, friendships and fun.
What I enjoy most about my role.
Building relationships with people, both in terms of prospects and clients, and also working in tandem with other professional advisers (e.g. solicitors and investment managers).
