RNG is manufactured primarily using methane (CH4) that comes from the decomposition of organic waste, such as landfill gas, methane captured from wastewater treatment facilities or agricultural by-products. Capturing those gases prevents them from entering the atmosphere and can even drop the carbon intensity below zero, depending on the feedstock used.
