2024 Smile Report
The Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation and its grant recipients are working to strengthen the dental workforce, promote preventive dental care and provide education. Since 2012, the Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation has donated more than $14 million to help improve the oral and overall health of Virginians. Mountain Empire Community College – Wise
This grant will support faculty salaries and provide scholarships for new students to enroll in courses that will assist in completing the Germanna Community College and Mountain Empire Community College’s Dental Assisting II program.
Bland Ministry Center – Bland
This support will fund a portion of construction costs for a new dental clinic that will expand the number of dental chairs from three to seven.
Mission Dental Virginia Inc – Abingdon
Funding will help with a capital expansion that will add 2,500 additional square feet to house a denture lab.
Germanna Community College – Fredericksburg
This grant will support faculty salaries and provide scholarships for new students to enroll in courses that will assist in completing the Germanna Community College and Mountain Empire Community College’s Dental Assisting II program.
Arlington Free Clinic, Arlington
Arlington Free Clinic plans to continue its medical-dental integration, address treatment barriers, adopt sustainable fee practices and increase resources to meet growing patient demands.
Arlington Free Clinic – Arlington
This grant support will fund a portion of a full-time dental hygienist.
Fauquier Free Clinic – Warrenton
This grant will support the salary of a newly hired
part-time dentist.
Medical College of Virginia Foundation – Richmond
This grant will add equipment and furnishings to a new clinic specially designed to serve patients with special health care needs and train future oral health practitioners on inclusive dentistry.
New Horizons Healthcare – Roanoke
This grant will help fund a full-time dentist and assist in securing a stable dental workforce in the community to serve low-income patients.
Bradley Free Clinic – Roanoke
This clinic plans to provide stipends, dental supplies, housing and meals for VCU School of Dentistry students and help support a part-time dental provider.
Child Health Investment Partnership – Roanoke
CHIP plans to support a bilingual care coordinator providing oral health education and dental/medical case management to enrolled children and adults.
Cross-Over Ministry Inc – Richmond
They will use grant funds to support a new part-time dental hygienist and hire a full-time bilingual dental assistant.
Charlottesville Free Clinic – Charlottesville
This grant will help cover the employment cost for the clinic’s dentist.
Northern Neck Middlesex Free Clinic – Kilmarnock
This clinic will use the funds to recruit and provide partial salary support for a full or part-time dentist.
HELP, Hampton – Norfolk
HELP will use grant funds to help expand the integration of 3D printing technology into clinic services to make affordable dentures, night guards and crowns for patients.
Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic, Orange
Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic plans to use the grant funds to help with the purchase of 3D printing technology so the clinic can offer affordable crowns and night guards to their patients.
New Horizons Healthcare, Roanoke
New Horizons Healthcare will help fund a full-time dentist and assist in securing a stable dental workforce in the community to serve low-income patients.
Healing Hands Health Center, Bristol
Healing Hands Health Center will use grant funds to help fund a full-time dentist needed to meet a growing demand to treat Virginia Medicaid patients at the center.

Bradley Free Clinic plans to provide stipends, dental supplies, housing and meals for VCU School of Dentistry students and help support a part-time dental provider.

Child Health Investment Partnership of the Roanoke Valley (CHIP) plans to support a bilingual care coordinator providing oral health education and dental/medical case management to enrolled children and adults.
Rescue Mission of Roanoke, Roanoke
Rescue Mission of Roanoke’s Fralin Free Clinic will use grant funds to support dental clinic salaries, including a part-time dentist and dental assistant, to provide holistic care for patients and purchase supplies.
Augusta Regional Dental Clinic, Augusta
Augusta Regional Dental Clinic will equip two new dental operatories as part of an expansion project intended to offer 35% more dental appointments by the end of 2024.
Free Clinic of Powhatan, Powhatan
Free Clinic of Powhatan plans to use grant funds to
assist with salaries and supplies in support of expanding
dental clinic hours.
HELP, Norfolk
Hampton Roads Ecumenical Lodgings and Provisions Inc. (HELP) will use grant funds to help fund the integration of 3D printing technology into clinic services to make affordable dentures, night guards and crowns for patients.
