make-up looks set to update your SS24 arsenal
FUTURAMA
Metallic make-up shades, including silver and gold, exude quiet luxury. Start with a simple, glowing base and groomed brows. Then, blend a light taupe shadow into the creases of the eyes, add mascara, a pink-peach blush to cheeks, and a rose-coloured lip balm. To make this look pop, Deveney dabbed delicate sliver leaf onto lids and around the tear ducts, too. “Silver is so wearable and beautiful – it’s like a jewel decorating your eyes.”

LINING
Put your lip liner aside and lean into a velvety, blurry lip stain instead
– this bitten-berry look features scarlet lipstick dabbed onto the mouth. “Enhance definition by nudging the colour beyond the lip line to achieve a blurred effect,” says Deveney. MAC’s Ruby Woo is a universally flattering shade, but, for more intensity, Deveney uses the hue in pigment powder, taking it above the Cupid’s bow to “add volume”.
BLUE MOOD
The beauty world is awash with blue right now and there are lots of ways to get
in on the trend in a modern way. Try swapping your black liner for a cobalt shade, work a sheer wash of matte baby blue, or drench your eye area in deep ocean tones for a cool take on the smokey eye. “Be bold and graphic with rich pigment, and be unapologetic about it,” says Deveney, who favours creating a graphic shape on the lids, then keeping the rest of your make-up minimal.
Painting lips with bubblegum pink instantly makes a statement. Luckily, the hue compliments any complexion but, if you’re keen to try a super-vivid shade, Deveney recommends keeping the colour true by dabbing concealer onto your lips before application. One swipe of Dior’s cult-favorite Rouge Dior in 678 Culte satin finish gives a hot-pink colour payoff that lasts. “Grab your go-to highlighter and tap it onto the high points of your face for balance and a glowy effect,” adds Deveney.

Forget olive or forest tones – the prettiest way to wear green eyeshadow this season is to lean into lime, a hue that’s fresh and vibrant yet also boasts an earthy undertone for added elegance. “It creates a camouflage effect, which works with every eye colour and skin tone,” says Deveney. “Pigment powder is rich and blends well, too – just swipe on one layer for a sheer finish that allows skin’s natural texture to shine through.”

Spring forward
Introducing directional pops of colour to glowing skin is key for achieving spring’s fresh, feel-good aesthetic. “It’s that time of year where we can play and have fun; where we can use bold colours and slivers of silver, but with minimalist application. This season, it’s all about keeping it luxe,” says our shoot’s pro make-up artist Sonia Deveney.
Think soft brows, quiet-luxury highlights, and a touch of ’90s-inspired grunge for
