One of Spain’s most celebrated, historic, but forward-looking wine producers, Perelada’s identity is intimately entwined with the very special part of the Mediterranean where it has been making wines for more than 100 years: l’Empordà.
Winemaking has deep roots here in the far northeastern corner of Catalonia, and the millennia-old vinous culture informs and enriches everything Perelada does. Led by talented chief winemaker Delfí Sanahuja, the Perelada team can draw on grapes sourced from five estates across the region, which between them represent the complex mix of terroirs and grape varieties both local and international that together shape l’Empordà’s special character.
But in its bid to express this unique Mediterranean territory in its evocative range of wines, Perelada is always ready to embrace the latest viti- and vinicultural ideas. It’s a combination of heritage and avant-garde thinking that is immediately apparent to the many thousands of visitors who take advantage of the first-class hospitality at Perelada’s remarkable modern winery in the heart of the Empordà.
Conceived and designed by the Suqué Mateu family in collaboration with the Pritzker Prize-winning RCR Arquitectes, the winery is an astonishing blend of aesthetics and environmental sensitivity: perfectly integrated with its surroundings, it is the first European winery to obtain LEED® Gold certification for eco-efficiency.

The winery is just one part of Perelada’s industry-leading commitment to sustainability, which has also involved an embrace of organic viticulture, dramatic carbon emission reductions, ever-more efficient water management, and a significant rise in the use of renewable resources. The company has been particularly innovative in its packaging, developing the ‘Perelada bottle’ from 100% recycled glass. Perelada estimates that this new bottle will reduce the packaging's environmental impact by 30%-65%, due to the lower energy requirements and reduced carbon emissions of its manufacturing.
Working sustainably is no gimmick. It’s a necessary part of Perelada’s commitment to protecting and expressing this very special place. As Sanahuja says, ‘The Perelada winery was conceived to create extraordinary wines. Staying true to our commitment to continual innovation, we seek to surprise with authentic, distinctive wines that are deeply rooted in the land, making the most of the exceptional characteristics that our region has to offer.’

Obsequi de l’Empordà 2024
A superbly complex expression, this is the essence of Perelada and l’Empordà in dry white wine form. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Garnatxa Blanca, and Garnatxa Roja, aged in cement tanks, it offers fleshy white stone fruit character together with notes of chamomile and fennel, and concludes on a lingering, Mediterranean breeze-cooled finish.

Amfitrió de l’Empordà 2022
A wine that brings a decidedly fresh and modern touch to a classic Empordà red blend of Garnatxa, Samsó, and Syrah. Amfitrió is a tribute to the skilful art of blending, with components aged in American oak, stainless steel and concrete tank brought together in a joyously immediate and juicy whole. Bright, ripe red berries, a hint of Mediterranean herbs and spice mingle with suave-textured tannins.
