A celebration of Trentodoc

Some places are just special, and the peaks, slopes and valleys of Trentino are one such place. The Lombard king Rotari knew this – he fought numerous battles in the area to protect his land in the 7th century. Now, 1300 years later, the winery named after him shows the same fierce local pride in its area.
The Rotari winery is located on the famous Piana Rotaliana – the ribbon of lower-lying terrain that runs along the river valleys of the Alto Adige, surrounded on all sides by the spectacular nature of the Alpine foothills.
This is a land of jagged peaks and scented meadows; of lakes and forests; of winter snows and summer sun; of cool mountain breezes and vines basking in the warmth and light of a long, slow growing season.
It is a place of hard rock and soft colours; a place of contrasts. But there is always a distinctive purity of light and air – and nowhere is that ineffable Alpine spirit better captured than in the Trentodoc sparkling wines of Rotari.
As well as two non-vintage wines, and the super-premium Flavio, there are four vintage-dated wines – Brut Riserva, Gran Rosé, Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut, and Brut Nature. Between them, they are the perfect quartet for serious wine lovers to explore Trentodoc.
All are made with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with the latter playing a particularly important role. Temperatures during the key summer months are kept low by the breezes off the mountains to the north or Lake Garda to the south, making for a long, slow growing season, which allows flavours to build up slowly.

A prolonged period in the cellar, ageing on lees, adds a gentle layer of bready softness to the pure, elegant fruit. While every bottle of Rotari vintage-dated Trentodoc is perfect for drinking on release, their fine acid line means that these wines can definitely age should you wish.
This combination of modern thinking and timeless wines is perfectly encapsulated by Rotari’s striking winery. Its green glass and steel is thoroughly modern – yet its shape also references both the jagged mountain peaks behind and the traditional Trentino pergola system used to grow the grapes.
With their delicate flavours, natural freshness and lively mousse, Rotari’s vintage-dated wines perfectly capture the experience of sitting on an Alpine hillside on a late summer evening. A celebration of purity, beauty and elegant optimism, the range really is a classic from the mountains.
Excellence in the vineyard and cellar
Cool nights mean the grapes retain the natural freshness which is so crucial to creating top-class sparkling wine. From sustainably managed vineyards, the grapes are hand-harvested when the winemaking team feels they hit the optimum balance between elegant fruit flavours and bright acidity.
In the winery, the grapes are pressed gently to preserve their aromatics, then once the base wine has been made, the wines are bottled and a liqueur de tirage added. This starts the second fermentation in the bottle which will create the fine bubbles so characteristic of Trentodoc.
A question of time

100% Chardonnay, with a minimum of 48 months spent on the lees. Aromas and flavours of yellow apple and stone fruit mingle with nutty, dried fruit complexity. Pair with fish dishes, or enjoy served as an elegant aperitif. Alc 13%
Gran Rosé Brut Trentodoc
Produced from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes grown in the sunny hills north of Trento and aged on the lees for 36 months. Notes of delicate red fruits and wild strawberry, framed by gentle biscuity character. Enjoy as an aperitif or paired with fish dishes. Alc 12.5%
Brut Riserva Trentodoc
