After years of preparation, the 2026 Winter Olympics are finally here. For two weeks, the best athletes in figure skating, ice hockey, skiing, snowboarding, and more are stationed in areas around Cortina and Milan in Italy, competing for a chance to call themselves Olympic medalists—gold medalists if they play their cards right. The tension is palpable, the cafeteria vlogs are addicting, and the athleticism is inspiring—so much so that in between every high-stakes heat, run, and match, I find myself stretching, researching personal trainers, and wondering why I ever quit ice-skating lessons back in the fourth grade. Jokes aside, our job is to lock in, ignoring all our responsibilities in favor of watching actual heated rivalries play out morning, noon, and night. Olympic years are sacred, and the Games never last as long as we'd like them to, so when we're lucky enough to experience them, it's important not to waste the opportunity.
With that in mind, I'm happy to introduce the first Go Sports issue of 2026, a guide to this year's Winter Olympics, which kicked off on February 6 and are scheduled to continue through the 22nd. Inside, you'll find everything that makes the Games so enthralling, from the most anticipated events to the most masterful athletes. Who's making their Olympic debut? Who could break a world record? When's the all-important gold-medal match? It's all just a scroll away.
But this is Who What Wear, so you know we didn't stop there. Fashion and beauty have always played a role in the Games and 2026 is hardly the exception. Not when you have gold medalist Madison Chock doubling as a costume designer and partnering with heritage fashion brands like Ralph Lauren and freestyle skier slash thrift sleuth Rell Harwood making her Olympic debut just one month after starring in J.Crew's latest viral campaign. Plus, beauty partnerships are a dime a dozen, with every brand competing to be the lucky one supplying sunscreen, smudge-proof mascara, and barrier-protecting moisturizer for the best athletes in the world. We spoke with both athletes and leading names in beauty and winter sports about all of the above and more. Scroll down to read about it all. Don't worry; the Olympic Village dorm tours will be waiting for you when you finish.
