Seasons in Hampshire. It was a sentimental choice because this Georgian country estate was where Philippa had her last holiday with her late grandma. Philippa and her husband believe that the build up to a holiday can be better than the actual trip, and so they saw the journey in the Land Rover Discovery as a special moment for the family to connect and spend time together.
Philippa Ross knows a thing or two about packing for a family adventure, and so as part of our ‘What’s In My Boot’ series she showsus what she packed into her Land Rover Discovery for a road trip to the Hampshire countryside.

The boot was therefore packed with many failsafe family favourites to make sure they were not only prepared for the weekend ahead, but could make special memories en route, too. Having the Land Rover Discovery took away the stress of trying to squeeze everything into a couple of suitcases, thanks to the ample boot space, so they could load up on family entertainment. They try to limit screentime on family holidays and so Philippa packed lots of games, including Uno for wholesome fun over dinner, Genius Square for the car and a traditional toss and catch game,a frisbee and a football for family picnics. She also makes sure they have a playlist ready before setting off, and on this trip the car’s Meridian™ Surround Sound speakers were playing Arsenal songs for her son and pop anthems for her daughter.
Anyone knows that the secret to keeping morale high on a road trip is to have plenty of snacks to hand, and Philippa also won’t go anywhere without her children’s water bottles to keep their drinks cool. Aside from games and snacks, another way she gets the little ones excited about the holiday ahead is to let them pack their own backpacks for the car journey. Philippa has found that personalised bags make the children even more excited about their own packing.
One of the best things they packed in the backpacks for this trip wasa Polaroid camera, which they used to document all of their special memories, from family bike rides to games of croquet. “I think they're definitely taking inspiration from me loving taking holiday snaps,” Philippa explains. “But Ava in particular, is taking pictures wherever she can. It’s just so easy for the kids to use and stick them into a little notebook when we get home. I’ve got so many phone pictures that I’m worried I’m never going to look back on, so this felt very special.”
