Soft yellows and dramatic blacks, designers are playing around with their color choices and witty additions to give bathrooms so much more personality
The Bathroom Design Moods That Will be Adding Character and Warmth in 2025
Selfcare is turned up a notch with Dornbracht’s Serenity Sky shower panel, designed with help from Chinese Medicine expert Dr Christoph Stumpe of the Shen Men Institute in Düsseldorf. Varying settings allow for varying needs, from Full Rain which falls gently and extensively to Purify Rain which is a powerful jet. Mood washing at its finest.

Yeye Estudio have remembered that it’s not just humans that use the bathroom, and its warm cubbyholes are perfect for cats too. And as the head of most households, why shouldn’t they be included in the design?! An approach that puts family - all members - front and center. Custom vanity designed by HD Faber.

The new Otis basin by Cielo at West One blends two key design trends in one - the pure joy of of soft, buttery yellow accents and the contemporary beauty of tubular curves. A statement piece that - literally - stands on its own two feet.
MELLOW YELLOW
Designer Olga Ashby used Sahara Noir tiles from Porcelain Tiles to create this dramatic space in a recent project, a sign that jet black is back and that large-scale tiles have well and truly taken over from metro. Seamless and sensual.
Dark Materials
The Playfulism vibe continues with this tonal brown bathroom, proving that checkerboard tiles can be used to striking effect here, too. Brassware and sink from the Victrion Range by BC Designs, Marlborough Terracotta Brick tiles from Ca’ Pietra.
All in Check
Marazzi has long conquered the art of making porcelain look like stone - while being so much more lightweight and durable - and has now turned its hand to wood. The new Vivo range uses 3D technology to create whorls, knots and subtle shading that is uncannily like the real thing (except so much better at withstanding splashes).
IMITATING ART
esigners have long been creating bathrooms that double as sanctuaries, but the latest looks double down on the elements that turn them into a retreat. From tile effects that imbue the room with personality to colors that seem upbeat and uplifting, next year will be characterised by personality-filled bathrooms in which you can relax. Of course, if they're also the favorite cubbyhole of your beloved family pet (as in the witty take by Yeye Studio) then, well, aren't they just the perfect spot to shut the door and have some quality you-time in...with only your cat for company. Bliss.

s the designer Irene Gunter noted earlier in this issue, as a whole we're moving away from open plan spaces. They just don't give us the intimacy we crave, nor the flexibility
to zone areas and create privacy or quiet as and when we need them. So the latest kitchen designs are eschewing the sprawling and architectural approaches formerly in favor, instead looking for floorplans, footprints, colors and innovations that work in more enclosed spaces. As this edit of the very best shows, we're now looking at spaces that are welcoming, decorative and maximize every square inch.
