Social spaces, calming colors and inclusive floorplans, these are the effects and innovations characterising how designers will view the heart of the home next year
The Kitchen Design Moods Setting the Tone and Trends for 2025
The T formation of this island by Davonport is so effective it’s a wonder why everyone doesn’t utilise it. Space efficient, providing plenty of worktop room, extra storage and seating in one, it’s a modern take on the classic kitchen footprint.
CUTTING A SHAPE
Nuance by Garcia Cumini is a new glass countertop debuted by Italian power-brand Cesar this year, a softly ombre effect that has the romantic beauty of a night sky as dusk settles in. Shown here on the curved Tangram island, it shows how dreamy a kitchen can be.

Always a highlight of the year, when Poliform launches a collection crowds clamour to get in as if at a Taylor Swift concert. Really. Its because this brand is where high design meets highly liveable aesthetics. And the luxuriously thick countertop of its new Artex Pro kitchen appears to float on its tapered edges, a feat of clever ergonomics.
On The Edge
The curved island remains a contemporary phenomenon, but British brand Roundhouse has moved the style on with this arched blocking of handleless cabinets instead. Evoking the fullness of a ship’s hull and softening the floorplan of this functional space, it's an innovative approach to kitchen design.
ROUND AND ABOUT
Asymmetry becomes the hero of this Jeometrica kitchen, newly launched by Scavolini. A way to connect seating to the main working portion of the fixtures, it helps to blend an area where friends and family can cook, socialise or do both at the same time.
Two Halves
s the designer Irene Gunter noted earlier in this issue, as a whole we're moving away from open plan spaces. They just don't give us the intimacy we crave, nor the flexibility to zone areas and create privacy or quiet as and when we need them. So the latest kitchen designs are eschewing the sprawling and architectural approaches formerly in favor, instead looking for floorplans, footprints, colors and innovations that work in more enclosed spaces. As this edit of the very best shows, we're now looking at spaces that are welcoming, decorative and maximize every square inch.
