The checklist for leaving the house is undoubtedly: keys, wallet, phone, watch. So it’s only right that timepieces offer a trifecta of reliability, wearability, and stylish intrigue; acting as quietly confident conversation starters as much as timekeepers. Read on for our edit of the latest luxury jewellery watches to invest in now - and adore forever…
If there is such a thing as an ‘it watch’, then this is it.
The Cartier Baignoire collection – defined by playful oval dials – has been enjoying a revival of late, thanks to the introduction of this solid gold bangle style. It sits somewhere between gold bangle and dress watch, and can be secured to the wrist by a pleasant snap that locks the hinged bracelet directly into the case. It’s the perfect jewellery watch for those who lean more towards jewellery than watch.

ow we keep time says a lot about us. Are you rushing about, always up to the wire? Or organised and punctual? First to brunch, or last? How we wear time similarly speaks volumes, with strapping on a watch as much a part of our morning

A little bit retro, a little bit now, and always a classic – that is the
Rolex Datejust, one of the most collected watches on the planet.
This model has all iconic features – fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet, date window at 3 o’clock – and a colour palette that captures the rich softness permeating the best watches right now. The smooth chocolate-brown sunray dial melts perfectly into the rose gold accents on the dial, bezel and bracelet. It’s the ‘mocha mousse' of luxury watches.

When it comes to timepieces, it doesn’t get much more iconic than the Bulgari Serpenti. This watch has been snaking round the wrists of the well-dressed set since the 1960s, and this model, with its green lacquer soleil dial and diamond edges, feels just as alluring today. The bi-colour iteration gives a glimpse into the craft story of the Tubogas, too, with stainless steel and rose gold strips wound together to create a sinuous shape that snaps on seamlessly.

If you’ve no time for waiting lists, skip the bags and go straight to the watch department for a little Hermès magic. This Heure H model is a 1990s classic, updated with a luxurious diamond setting and a creamy palette. There are 132 diamonds set into the iconic H-shaped case, and 11 more marking the hours of the mother-of-pearl dial. The off-white strap is super-chic, but if you’re coveting a new look, you can quickly change it yourself with a simple tool. Just collect the straps and swap at will.

Deep-forest green and rose gold is a combination you might not have known you needed – until now. By introducing this unusual colour combination, Hublot manages to temper the industrial edge of its angular Classic Fusion case (with visible screw heads) and make it feel softly luxe. The depth of the verdant sunray dial and rubber strap is complemented by the soft-focus satin finish on the gold, and a simple, clean ring of brilliant diamonds on the bezel, ensuring calm confidence.

It is hard to imagine that a watch as strikingly different as the Van Cleef & Arpels Cadenas could be celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, but it’s a milestone that speaks to the design’s contemporary edge and enduring aesthetic. First created in 1935 as a way for women to read the time discreetly, the small, rectangular dial is nestled into the design of the watch, and angled in a way that makes it easy to read
with a quick glance. The most recent model has been crafted in yellow gold,
with snow-set diamonds and a chocolate alligator strap.

Would we try robin’s eggs? Perhaps not at the breakfast table, but on the watch of a dial? Absolutely. The iconic Tiffany & Co. blue (sometimes referred to as robins’ egg blue) makes a splash on the enamelled dial
of this vintage-inspired Tiffany Eternity timepiece. But the real story here is the diamonds. The design of this white gold watch encourages us to live in the moment, and makes every time of the day feel special by marking the hours with 12 different diamond cuts.

A decent dress watch is as much an everyday staple as brushing your teeth, and this La Grande Classique de Longines model ticks all the boxes.
A signature of the Longines brand since 1992, its gold-toned bracelet, round mother-of-pearl dial, and chic diamond hour markers deliver a classic combination ideal for wearing on duty, off duty – or headed for duty-free.

Piaget is on a mission to liberate us from regular case shapes, and this trapeze silhouette of the Sixtie case is an ode to the free-thinking, free-loving, experimental days of the 1960s (and a bold cuff watch that the house unveiled in 1969). The asymmetric swell of the silvered satin-brushed dial, with its contrasting rose gold-toned hands and hour markers, does indeed feel like a breath of fresh air. That icy flash of diamonds on stainless steel feels like the promise of a good night out, too.
