Let’s imagine the opposite, walking up to the tee box holding your driver with confidence, not fear.

The good news is you can fix your slice much easier than you might think. Here are five proven strategies to get your ball headed in the right direction.

Fix Your Slice Once and For All

some impossible positions. Behind trees, in the deep rough, fairway bunkers, and sometimes even out of bounds.
It leaves your confidence shattered and feels like you’re playing not to lose rather than playing to win, which makes shooting low scores nearly impossible and can ruin a fun day on the golf course.
We’re here to help - keep reading to learn how to straighten out your slice, gain more distance and hit more fairways. The final tip will likely leave you speechless and fix that nasty slice faster than you can imagine.
Grip The Club
Like A Pro
Most instructors would argue the number one cause for a slice, an open clubface at impact, is because of your grip. If you have a weak grip, that frustrating slice is sure to follow.
Before getting into the other four proven strategies, you first need to get your hands in the correct position. The easiest way to fix this issue is to simply turn one or both of your hands clockwise away from the target.
If you’re a right-handed golfer, this will move your left hand more on top of the grip and your right hand more underneath the grip. This will get you into a position that makes it significantly easier to square the face at impact. You’ll not only hit it straighter with your driver but likely compress your irons more as well.
You don’t need a strong grip but getting your hands into a neutral position can make a massive difference. Lastly, don’t forget to let your thumbs relax around the grip - they don't need to be pointing straight down the shaft.

Change A Bad Ball Position
2
Once you have a strong grip, there are two other aspects of the address position to consider so you can set your body up for success.
Let’s start with ball position. Since a driver is hit exclusively off a tee, you need the ball more forward in your stance. If you’re a right-handed golfer, it should be off the left heel, directly below your left ear.
If the ball is too far in the middle of your stance, it can lead to the dreaded pop-up, which can leave a nasty sky mark on your club. Or, make it more likely to slice, as you’ll likely get steep which increases spin and also leaves the clubface open.
Having the ball more forward makes it easier to square the face and possibly hit a draw. As the ball moves up in your stance, make sure your lead shoulder is higher to encourage a more upward attack angle.
After you make the first two changes, you’re well on your way to straighter, longer drives. But your posture might also be holding you back.
Start by checking your knee flex - you need enough bend in your knees so your legs don’t straighten out. But too much knee flex makes it near impossible to use your lower body and push off the ground to generate power.
The other aspect is your spine angle; you want to avoid the C or S-shaped postures.
C posture is when your shoulders are slumped, while S posture comes from too much arch in your lower back. Both positions cause high stress on your back and don’t allow your core to fully activate during the swing.
A more athletic posture with a straight back can lead to more balance and a more controlled golf swing.
Perfect Your Posture

Now that technique is fixed - don’t forget about the mental game.
Visualization is a powerful tool that can help you on the golf course with every shot from tee to green. Yet, most golfers never focus on the power of their mind to help them play better golf. As the great Bobby Jones said:
Work On Your Visualization Strategy
4
If you want to find more fairways, you need to spend more time behind the ball, visualizing your ideal shot shape. Too many golfers neglect a routine which leads to standing over the ball, thinking too much and not simply reacting to the target.
"I never hit a shot, not even in practice, without having a very sharp, in-focus picture of it
in my head"
To swing with confidence, you need to spend a few seconds gaining clarity about your target and ideal shot shape, especially on tee shots.
If you watch the best golfers in the world, you’ll notice they all do this simple move – they stand behind the ball, take their practice swings and look at the target. Jason Day even closes his eyes for a quick second to visualize the perfect tee shot.
This is a simple hack that you can try as well. Before taking any practice swings, have a clear visualization of your target in the distance.
Once you have a clear target, imagine the ideal shot shape - maybe a slight fade, straight shot, or even a draw. Then take one or two practice swings behind the golf ball staring at your target, imagining the ideal shot.
This will make it clear to your mind what the target is and help you swing to achieve your goal. As Jack Nicklaus said:
The final tip to help you finally fix that slice is to use the SF1 (slice fix) driver from Performance Golf. While there are a lot of clubs that have draw-biased weighting, this is the world’s first true slice fix driver.
Performance Golf created a revolutionary design to fix the most common problem among recreational golfers. This slice-fixing club makes it easier than ever to square the clubface to your path for longer, straighter drives. It delivers the perfect face and lie angles, at the perfect length, to ensure a neutral path that leads to consistent drives.
What makes it so different from any other driver on the market? It starts with the AeroSquare crown, which was inspired by a professional race car's impressive cornering ability. The driver features directional control channels that redirect airflow, which forces the toe to close faster and square the face sooner.
No need to adjust the weights or change the loft, either. This driver has 12 degrees of loft and a 62-degree lie angle, which sets you up to hit long, straight drives. The counter-slice weights are strategically placed to auto-square the clubface – no manual adjustments needed.
This driver has a draw-calibrated, three degree closed face angle. Luckily for you, it doesn’t look like it at the address position. Instead, it has a very aesthetically pleasing profile that looks like a normal driver on the course.
Another unique feature of this slice fixing driver is the premium, counterbalanced shaft. Also inspired by auto racing's meticulous control standards, this shaft moves the balance point closer to the hands. Unlike most standard driver shafts, this adds more feel, weight and control in your hands.
Performance Golf has made it as simple as ever to take the club out of the box and start hitting long, straight drives.
