Drumming up buzz for a new smartphone is nowadays an industry necessity and HONOR has quite literally achieved a slam dunk with their launch of the new Magic5 Pro. Announcing the new handset at MWC, the global technology brand unveiled that it has partnered with the Guinness World Records to capture the official world record for the Highest Between The Legs Slam Dunk.
Super-advanced camera capability is a stellar selling point for the Magic5 Pro and so HONOR wasted no time showing off what it can do. In a spectacular showcase of skills and creativity, the moment saw Polish basketball player and twice FIBA 3x3 World Champion and pro dunker, Piotr Grabowski, complete the slam dunk. Taking place in London, the world-class baller achieved the world record by jumping to the staggering height of 3.2 metres. The impressive feat was automatically captured thanks to a host of new features powering the HONOR Magic5 Pro, in a breathtaking display of its capabilities.
All the better to see you with
A bright and bold 6.81 inch OLED makes your pictures look clear as can be.
A standout of these sparkling new features is the Magic5 Pro’s AI Motion Sensing technology. Thanks to AI machine learning, the phone is capable of automatically detecting the highest point of a jump, which meant it was able to snap the picture in ultra-high definition and clarity. The Magic5 Pro taps into an AI network of over 270,000 images, meaning the camera can recognise varied scenarios precisely and intelligently identify the best moment to automatically capture the winning shot.
Taking the perfect picture of a moving subject is a pain point — even for professional photographers. Millisecond lags are encountered in photography of all levels because the human eye can only send a signal so quickly to the brain to click the shutter. This is especially true for professional sports photography, which normally requires high levels of both talent and camera equipment to capture the best shot for post-game recaps. But the dawn of AI photography, spearheaded by models like the Magic5 Pro, means the ability to take professional quality photos astonishingly now sits in the pocket of the everyday user.

But HONOR’s camera magic doesn’t end there. The Magic5 Pro is armed with a 50MP Triple Main Camera System that boasts multiple advanced features. Millisecond Falcon Capture technology means the overall capturing speed of the camera is greatly enhanced, including improving the speed of camera start-up, focus, shutter and image capture. With the wide lens’s f/1.6 aperture and the ultra wide lens’s f/2.0 aperture, the speed at which the Magic5 Pro can take pictures with vivid clarity and sharp details will make even the most novice smartphone user’s photos look professional.
Shedding some light on this new HONOR upgrade is its light sensing features that work in tandem with the processing speed. With a wide lens fitted with a customised 1/1.12 inch sensor, greater sharpness, better exposure and richer dynamic range is achieved — even in low-light and backlit conditions, or complex lighting environments. This is brilliant for both amateur and professional photographers, as light refraction can cause irritating blur and distortion for anyone.
To solve this problem further, HONOR has debuted its Ultra Fusion Computational Optics Technology — an improved algorithm using deep AI learning networks to further optimise the Magic5 Pro. This tech resolves blur caused by sensor noise, by imitating how light waves travel when passing through the lens. Using AI to optimise this imitation improves the details of images and makes sure your photos are crisp as can be.
To round it all off, the Magic5 Pro’s Super Dynamic Vivid Display is put to full use by its Super HDR Imaging software. The HONOR R&D team ensured that the colour reproduction for your images is next-level by optimising dynamic range and light/shadow accuracy. This enhanced colour calibration method means that images look as close to real life as possible, not to mention the fact that the stunning display makes them truly sing.

… a 7.9-inch display for a tablet-like experience so you can work and play like never before.
YouTuber and dismantler of expensive tech, @JerryRigEverything, is pushing HONOR’s new flagship foldable to its limits. In recent years, the smartphone market has seen some exciting innovation – not least with HONOR’s first generation Magic V in 2022 – in its home market.
Yet, nothing quite matches the leap forward for HONOR’s Magic Vs – a step change from the first generation and the first foldables foray into global markets.
Foldable tech itself has graduated from a futuristic novelty to flagship material, thanks in no small part to huge improvements in hinge mechanisms – as seen in the likes of the HONOR Magic Vs. So are we about to see a new standard being set?
Propelling the design chops of the foldable revolution forward is the Super-light Gearless Hinge in the Magic Vs. The structure of the hinge can be clearly seen in JerryRigEverything's video. Carefully crafted using a single-piece casting process, the supporting structure of hinge now requires only 4 working components, compared with the 92 used in the Magic V. This means the screen is nearly completely flat when unfolded and has almost no gap when closed, elevating the folding standard above its closest competitors by giving a thinner, flatter look at 12.9mm.
Thanks to the reduced number of hinge components, the Magic Vs now has internal space for a 5,000mAh large battery. That clocks in at the highest capacity in a foldable smartphone, which enables it to power its stunning 6.45-inch AMOLED display. When unfolded, the internal 7.9-inch display turns the Magic Vs into a two-in-one device, offering a tablet-like experience as well as a smartphone.

HONOR’s latest flagship is more than a match for its contemporaries in the foldable market. But does the Magic Vs forecast a resurgence of foldable tech in the wider smartphone market, decades after the likes of the Motorola StarTAC clamshell?
Well, it seems that the future really does hinge on… well, the hinge. The Super-light Gearless innovation of the Magic Vs means that it is the thinnest and lightest foldable phone HONOR has offered yet, and these are design specs that matter greatly to manufacturers. As foldable designs become sleeker, their appeal becomes more and more of a no-brainer. Their hinges eliminate the need for carrying a tablet alongside a phone, providing a convenient all-in-one tool for work and play. Not to mention the novelty of the folding screen making phones like the Magic Vs prime to be the breakout star in a market hungry
for imagination.
