Fashion’s current obsession, surprisingly, is hair. At Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, designer Charlie Le Mindu debuted Skins, his collection made with human hair and presented with Byredo and Pornhub. It chimes with the Victorian influences we’re seeing in the fashion zeitgeist right now —think Dilara Findikoglu's bespoke red carpet dress for Margot Robbie at the London premiere of Wuthering Heights, decorated with long braided and plaited synthetic hair. If you’re looking for a slightly more wearable way to wear this trend, look to pony-hair shoes, faux-fur trims and fuzzy, textured accessories. And lest we forget, there’s also the Skims bush thong.
A whole cohort of new creative directors at fashion’s biggest houses has provided some exceptional new bags for S/S 26. But which are headed to It-bag status? The Chanel Small Flap Bag has been spotted on Dua and Hailey, automatically earning it a place on the list, and then there’s Gucci’s Borsetto, which has been papped on Alex Consani, whilst Tish Weinstock’s recent post of the new Dior Bow Bag is already sitting in my Saved folder, and spring has hardly begun.
Cookie, the Maltese dog that won first prize in the Toy category at the 150th Westminster Dog Show in New York City, lives in my mind rent-free. Competitions for man’s (and woman’s) best friend are having a moment, with Alexa Chung judging her local doggie contest last year, and Claudia Winkleman scheduled to host Crufts 2026. My hot take? Dog shows are the Olympic Games for people who don’t love sports.
Jelly desserts! Whipped cream! Pavlova! Marzipan fruits! Suddenly, food is feeling very ‘80s, so much so that Pinterest has named cabbage the “It vegetable” of the year. Even London’s most sought-after restaurant—the very decadent, pink-napkin-clad Oslo Court in St John’s Wood—is so ‘80s, it doesn’t even have Instagram.
Forget bleached or ultra-skinny brows: spring 2026 is all about the brow slit. Pioneered by Iris Law and the most “Hypebeast” people I see on my East London commute, if there’s one thing that marks the end of the clean-girl aesthetic, it’s this. I wouldn’t be surprised if the brow piercing was next—stay tuned.
ICYMI: The quiet-luxury era is on the wane, and apparently, purple was waiting in the wings to enter the spotlight. Despite historically being one of fashion’s least favourite hues, Celine, Valentino, Balenciaga and Prada are all aboard the ultraviolet train. Jump on if you dare.
Last year’s Met Gala may have marked the return of boobs, but this year is all about the butt. From Kate Moss' exposed thong at Gucci, as well as those on the red carpet (looking at you, Hailey, Zoë and Teyana), to Sean McGill bringing back McQueen’s “bumster” trousers for S/S 26, the crack is officially back.
Having a boyfriend may have been embarrassing in 2025, but in 2026, we all want a Heathcliff. From Heated Rivalry to Love Story and of course, Wuthering Heights, the mood is all about yearning, desire and romance. Finally!
2026 has been coined as the year of whimsy. And whilst this might mean evoking a sense of playfulness, picking up analogue activities and ditching the over-productivity we’ve become slaves to in recent years, it also means we can have a little more fun with our style. With ‘pirate-core’ one of spring’s major aesthetics (think Dior S/S 26 tricorn hats, bloomer trousers and Napoleon jackets galore), we’re looking to softer fabrics and romantic prints that feel on-trend yet wearable. Brocade florals, buccaneer blouses and embroidered, beaded tapestry fabrics feel romantic, elegant and oh-so fanciful.

One of the year’s best-dressed people was crowned as such on the very first day of January. Rama Duwaji, the youngest ever First Lady of New York City (she’s just 28 years old), wore a pair of witchy lace-up boots by Miista on 1 January for her husband Zohran Mamdani’s swearing-in ceremony. Styled by ultimate NYC cool-girl Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, she’s been spotted in vintage Balenciaga, Renaissance Renaissance and The Frankie Shop.
