very golfer in the world wants to hit the ball further. It’s the secret to unlocking lower scores, so the stats tell us, and those at the top level are conditioning themselves to become powerful athletes in an effort to increase their clubhead speed.
THE NEW FRONTIER OF FORGIVENESS
Cobra has unlocked a new level of stability that promises to turn your worst drives into fairway-finders, thanks to its ‘product of inertia’ breakthrough
E
At the heart of this newfound level of user friendliness is POI. It stands for Product of Inertia and measures how a clubhead rotates diagonally across all axes at once. A high MOI (Moment of Inertia) is desired to correct off-center hits, while a low POI is desired to deliver more accurate shots that don’t create as much gear effect. The result is tighter dispersion down range by up to 23%, which could be the difference between finding the heavy rough or the first cut.
“MOI is still important, but POI is the next frontier in terms of overall accuracy,” said Jose Miraflor, VP of Product Architecture and Consumer Connections at Cobra Puma Golf.
“POI finetunes forgiveness into directional consistency as it allows the clubhead to rotate more naturally with your swing.”
So, how has Cobra achieved low POI in its OPTM drivers?
Well, each driver in the family features unique AI-Optimized POI shaping to increase rotational stability as well as AI-Optimized Adaptive POI weighting for enhanced CG placement.
Clubhead shapes are more rounded to place the CG more in the center of the clubhead, while AI-optimized external weights are placed in new locations with the goal of producing the lowest POI possible.
For example, the LS driver, which features a Tour profile and tends to work best for faster swingers, features weight ports in the high toe, mid heel and back, with 11g, 7g, and 3g moveable weights, while the the Max-D, which is aimed at players who desire slice correction, features a fixed 11g weight in the heel area of the clubhead.
What’s clear is that all four drivers have been configured to carefully meet the demands of every golfer. But Cobra hasn’t stopped there. With the FutureFit33 hosel system, the most adjustable sleeve on the market, golfers can choose from 33 independent loft and lie settings to dial in a specific ball flight, while the innovative SMARTPAD design enables the face angle to remain square regardless of the setting. For guidance, simply scan the QR Code etched onto the driver itself and pick the setting that suits your preferred window.
Not only are the OPTM drivers forgiving, but they’re also fast. This is down to the H.O.T. Face Technology, which comprises 15 hot spots across the clubface to deliver more robust ball speed and distance.
But speed gains are useless without control. The skill of keeping the ball in play remains a cornerstone to building a score, beating your handicap or securing that coveted title at your home club. But modern technology is playing an increasingly pivotal role in keeping drives on the fairway, and none more so than Cobra with its OPTM family of drivers.

The OPTM LS driver is the lowest-spinning model built for players seeking maximum speed and precision in a compact design. It has 11g, 7g, and 3g moveable weights and is available in a shorter 44.5” Tour Length build for even more control over strike.
The OPTM X features a Tour preferred profile and delivers a balance of speed, accuracy, and stability via moveable 11g and 3g weights in the mid-high toe and back.
Cobra’s most forgiving driver thanks to advanced shaping and optimized weight placement via an 11g weight fixed in the back for reduced sidespin and straighter shots.
The Max-D is aimed at players who need maximum slice correction. It features a lightweight design, built-in draw bias, and oversized profile with a fixed 11g weight in the heel area of the clubhead.
