TOTAL WAR: MEDIEVAL III
It's been almost two decades since the release of Medieval II: Total War, an iconic instalment that set a new standard for the series. Creative Assembly has entered early pre-production for Total War: Medieval III, with this long-awaited sequel ushering in a "rebirth of historical Total War" as it takes you back to all-out war across the Middle Ages.
Creative Assembly says you should think about this next chapter as both a tribute to the past and a revolution that will usher in the future of Total War. Over the next week, through exclusive interviews with creative leads at the studio, GamesRadar+ will explore how Creative Assembly is working to build the ultimate medieval strategy sandbox – one that will let you shape realms and rewrite history itself.
TOTAL WAR: WARHAMMER 3 – LORDS OF THE END TIMES
When Creative Assembly announced that it was trading history for fantasy back in 2015, part of a sprawling three-game partnership with Games Workshop, it caused some consternation. Could Total War succeed without a firm grounding in reality? Fast-forward a decade, and three instalments to the Total War: Warhammer series later, and it's fair to say that the gamble paid off. Thankfully, we now know that December's Tides of Torment isn't the end for Total War: Warhammer.
The Lords of The End Times is coming in 2026, a new pack that unleashes new Legendary Lords and the apocalypse itself into the colossal Immortal Empires experience. This is part of the free End Times update that will transform the Total War: Warhammer 3 campaign with world-ending scenarios that push the boundaries of strategy and survival. This December at GamesRadar+, exclusive interviews will reveal why Creative Assembly is wrapping its arms around such a pivotal moment in Warhammer history.
If Total War: Medieval III, a new console-ready game engine, and a massive expansion to Total War: Warhammer 3 weren't enough, Creative Assembly has confirmed that it'll have more to show before the year's end. The studio has confirmed that it'll be in attendance at The Game Awards to reveal the next major release to the Total War franchise, one that "represents one of the most ambitious projects in the franchise's history."
The GamesRadar+ Big Preview into the future of Total War begins on December 4 and runs through to December 12. Come back daily for insight into the past, present, and future of the Total War franchise that you can't get anywhere else.
