Celebrate the season in STYLE
But don’t just take our word for it. The British Royal Family have an esteemed tradition of using Welsh gold in their wedding rings, dating all the way back to 1923. Both King Charles and Queen Camilla wore their Welsh gold rings at The King’s Coronation, and Kate Middleton and Megan Markle’s wedding rings feature Welsh gold too. Anything that’s good enough to be worn by royalty every day is certainly good enough for us.
The change of the seasons also presents the ideal opportunity to play around with
your look, and updating your jewellery collection is one of the easiest ways to try out new styles. Ben Roberts, Managing Director at Clogau, says: “This year's hottest accessories are all about having fun. Taking a step away from the modest minimalist,
it is all about being bold and glamorous.” And there is no brand that better balances glamorous trends with classic designs that you will never tire of.
From the newly launched shell-adorned pieces that are perfect for a beach holiday to glimmering citrine purchases that will add a pop of colour to your look, Clogau is the first place to look when you want to shop for current yet timeless jewellery that will complete your wardrobe in an instant.

Welsh gold is one of the most sought-after types in the world, so it’s only natural that jewellery made from the precious material will have a special impact on your wardrobe. Due to the scarcity of Welsh gold, only a small amount is included within each piece of Clogau jewellery. This not only helps to promote the longevity of gold supplies, but also keeps Clogau’s beautiful pieces more affordable.
No gold mining happens in Wales today, so there’s every chance that Welsh gold supplies will run out. This makes it some of the rarest gold there is, as well as some of the most valuable - today, Welsh gold can command up to 30 times more than standard world gold. Owning a piece of Clogau jewellery is not only about style, but also gives you ownership of an incredible part of history.

Welsh gold also has a very special place in the history of the British Royal Family, especially when it comes to love. The precious material has been used to make royal wedding rings since 1923, when Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon married the then Duke of York, who later became King George VI. The Queen’s wedding ring was made from pure Welsh gold from the Clogau St David’s gold mine, made from gold gifted to the British Royal Family at the time of the mine closure in 1911.
The tradition was carried on by their daughters - Queen Elizabeth II when she married Prince Phillip in 1947; and Princess Margaret when she married Anthony Armstrong Jones - and it still lives on today. The Prince and Princess of Wales picked Welsh gold when they tied the knot in 2011 and Prince Harry followed suit when he married the now Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, in 2018. In fact, the Sussexes’ wedding marked the 95th year since the tradition started.
Queen Elizabeth II also received a kilogram ingot of Welsh gold from the Gwynfynydd gold mine in Dolgellau in April 1986, for her 60th birthday. The mine closed 13 years later, in 1999.
