Calvin was rare in the fact that he was one of a few guys that had his size, length, height, speed and body control to be able to put it all together and make it work. That’s how you get the name Megatron.

- A TRIBUTE TO CALVIN JOHNSON -

What Calvin did in only nine years showcased his total preeminence at the position. He was one of the most challenging players to guard in the entire history of the game. He was all you could handle - the rare combination of a big, physical player who was so smooth and effortless. He was simply unstoppable at times, not to mention a major pain in my butt. I will always remember him as one of the only receivers for whom we had to tweak our game plans because none of us realistically could manage him alone. Calvin changed the way teams drafted defensive backs, and his play helped revolutionize the style of play and demands expected of wide receivers forever.
- RONDE BARBER
To be 6’7’’ or whatever that he is – have a catch wingspan of an ostrich – the guy is just an unbelievable athlete and can run like a gazelle. Calvin was a very, very special specimen. You don’t see those types of guys coming around this League very often. The guy has just been an unstoppable force year-in and year-out. Every time he was on the field, you had to know where he was. Calvin is a transcending player and did a lot of great things for this League. To end it all off, I definitely believe Calvin ‘Megatron’ Johnson belongs in Canton.
- PATRICK PETERSON
Calvin Johnson deserves to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame because he’s a once in a lifetime, generational talent. The things that he’s done on the football field, the way people had to game-plan, the way people had to vice like he was a punt gunner to cover him and still not get him stopped, the way he could jump over triple coverage and still make the play – some of the most unbelievable things that I’ve seen on a football field he was able to do in such a short amount of time. It’s just unfortunate that he wasn’t able to get a team around him that was able to compete for Super Bowls, but he’s one of the best players to ever play this game. That’s why he deserves to get in.
- RICHARD SHERMAN
He had the total package. No one has the total package and he did. Size, speed, quickness, ball skills, physical, great hands, and he was great mentally. I remember knowing what he was going to do and still not being able to stop it because of his attributes. Calvin definitely deserves to be in the Hall. He was the best receiver of his time and also the best receiver I’ve played against. I’ve played against some greats, but Megatron trumps them all.
- AQIB TALIB
He was built like a tight end, but he could run routes just like a little guy. For a guy to be that big, it’s kind of rare. In the Madden games, you can create a player, and I’ve said this many times; he is, in my opinion, the LeBron James of football. LeBron is 6’8’’, 6’9’’, 6’10’’, somewhere around there, but LeBron can play the 1, the 2, the 3, the 4 and the 5. You look at Calvin, he could be a tight end, he played slot, he played the outside, the No. 1 receiver. You could move a big guy like that around. I think that’s rare. He’s definitely a one of a kind receiver. In my opinion, he was the best to ever high point the ball, in and at its highest point. That’s what made him so good. He was coordinated.

Calvin is a Hall of Famer. The picture I have in my mind is that Calvin Johnson had two starting defensive backs lined up over him like a gunner on the punt team to keep him from scoring.
If anyone disagrees, just show them that clip.

Lions WR Calvin Johnson was one of four wide receivers selected to the 2010s NFL All-Decade Team, alongside WRs Antonio Brown, Larry Fitzgerald and Julio Jones. In the 2010s decade, Johnson made six consecutive Pro Bowls (2010-15), four consecutive AP All-Pro selections (2010-13), three-straight AP First-Team All-Pro selections (2011-13), led the NFL in receiving yards in consecutive seasons (2011-12) and led the League in receptions in one season (2012). Despite not playing the final four seasons of the decade, and 36 fewer games than the next-closest 2010s NFL All-Decade receiver, he finished the 2010s ranked first in 200-yard receiving games (five), third in 100-yard receiving games (37), tied for third in multi-touchdown reception games (15), fourth in games in double-digit reception games (13), eighth in receiving yards (8,548) and eighth in touchdown receptions (62).
