And while everything has its place for now, Goad treats her home like a laboratory, where experimentation—and the shuffling of furniture—is celebrated. “I love to move things around,” she says, “even if they usually go back to their original spots in the end.” To her, it’s a lot like tossing on jewelry or switching shoes at the last second, only to eventually settle on a tried-and-true pair of jeans. Or in Goad’s case, an always-stylish scalloped lampshade.
Upstairs, in the bedrooms, Goad fought her color instincts: “I tend to always have a pink bedroom,” she says. But in this house, she switched it up with a lilac shade by Papers and Paints that she calls “not too sweet.” And from the end of the hallway, it provides a cool contrast against the green in the spare bedroom. Next to the wood canopy bed she bought at a flea market, her signature scalloped lamp mingles with a bamboo nightstand, a perfect example of how she masters the mix.
