Then there’s the inside of Casa Kaya, which the couple named after a beloved pup and jokes is a bit of a show house for their brand. “I never had any question whatsoever about using Eskayel here,” says Chacona. “For me it’s a no-brainer, an obvious thing that I’d want to do for any living space that we have.”
Even the pieces that weren’t best-sellers are put to work. “The rug in the living room is one of my favorite rugs I’ve ever made,” says Campanaro. “And I’ve never sold it, ever. Sometimes you just make stuff and it doesn’t resonate with people. But we love it.” Now, though, when people come over, they comment on how much they admire the hand-knotted silk and wool textile underfoot. “When you see it actually being used, it takes on the life that it’s supposed to have,” adds Chacona.
