The ultimate Eskayel moment, though, is a modular, low-slung sofa in the living room that pretty much sums up the pair: flexible, chill, and infinitely alluring. Filled with eco-friendly kapok (a sustainable plant fiber), there are no hard structural elements, which makes it easy to renegotiate the configuration, a blessing during the monotonous days of quarantine. “Shanan always changes it after two months,” says Chacona. “It’s like having a new piece of furniture all the time.”
It’s where they cozy up with a book on rainy days or curl up with a laptop when work beckons. The rest of the time, they’re in their other living room: poolside and relaxing in the sun.
