“This house looked like a good place to have a good time.”
Fritsch has coined their interior style “utilitariglam.” “It means useful with a glamorous twist,” she notes. For starters, the couple owns multiple disco balls, scattered throughout, that encourage the sunlight and their two kids, Winter (13) and Penelope (almost 12), to break out some dance moves. The theme also includes a heavy use of plywood, pegboard, and locker bin storage solutions, and a hand-shaped chair that, not long after Fritsch purchased it, got a DIY-painted manicure. Outside they’ve kept the good vibes going with the addition of a mini turf soccer pitch (formerly a concrete slab) and a rooftop half-pipe, which, after navigating through city approvals, her preteens helped build. “I’m not sure learning to skateboard in your 40s is the best idea, but I do enjoy the challenge,” she says with a laugh (the whole family picked up the sport during the pandemic). “Oliver and the kids are amazing on it.”
