Horowitz is looking into whether the FBI and DoJ attempts to obtain FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) warrants on the Trump campaign’s foreign policy adviser Carter Page were fueled by partisan motives—mainly a dossier containing incriminating info against then-candidate Trump.

Robert Mueller passed on information regarding New York-based lawyer and Trump associate Michael Cohen to the U.S. Attorney’s office of the Southern District of New York. The SDNY, with approval from Rod Rosenstein, raided Cohen’s office in April 2018.

It began, as many messy affairs do, over cocktails. In May of 2016, a low-level Trump campaign aide named George Papadopoulos and an Australian diplomat named Alexander Downer met in a swanky London bar. Drinks flowed, tongues wagged, and Papadopoulos let slip that Russia was shopping "political dirt" on Trump’s antagonist and likely opponent Hillary Clinton. Two months later, when Clinton's private emails were released to the public, Australian officials reached out to their American counterparts with details of the cocktail conversation. The Department of Justice decided to investigate.
Named Crossfire Hurricane, the probe has since grown into all-consuming partisan battle waged in the courts, in Congress, and on Twitter. The inquiry has spanned Trump's’ entire presidency and has so far yielded 11 indictments, five guilty pleas, and a counter-inquiry into the methods and motives of the investigation itself. It’s also tested every American’s knowledge of our judicial system and the limits of executive power. How well do you know what the hell is going on? Let's find out.
