The key to having healthy hair is the products you use and how you use them.
below you will find a few popular hair care brands that will keep your hair healthy and maintained to its fullest potential. Explore the products below and learn a few helpful hair tips.
with great hair comes great responsibility. Here are a few hair care tips.
WASH DAY
trimming ends
Wash day is a very important ritual in a black girl's hair routine. the proper products, time, and arm strength are required to successfully do your natural hair.
split ends can be a pain in the butt if your hair is not maintained and well kept. if you regularly keep your ends cut it will prevent you from getting a hair cut or potentially doing the big chop (cutting all your hair off).
oil
head coverings
oil is essential to black hair. while others may produce enough oil to keep their scalp moisturized we must apply hair oil to keep our hair hydrated and healthy. When you have too much product build-up it can cause damage. product build up can cause your hair to become heavy. wash day here we come.
the most important step in maintaining a beautiful long-lasting hairstyle is to wear the proper hair coverings. Black women wear bonnets and headwraps to bed and while at home to ensure the still would still be presentable.
leave-in conditioner
hair coloring
leave-in conditioner is especially good for black women with 4c hair texture as seen above in the hair texture chart. Leave-in conditioner is usually applied after you use shampoo and conditioner. It locks in moisture and helps detangle hair. Leave-in conditioners make for a better styling process.
with beautiful hair color comes great responsibilities. Whether its a box dye or you are bleached your hair you must keep your scalped moistured. hair dye can suck the life and nutrients out of your hair. so moisturizer is key to having healthy colorful hair.

edges
giving your natural a break from protective styles and weave is imperative to the health of your hair. just like your physical health your hair needs the same upkeep.
edges also know as baby hairs are essentially the icing on the cake when it comes to a black woman's hair. laying your edges down with hair gel added the razzle-dazzle to your look. laying your edges takes hair gel or edge control and a brush, edge brush or toothbrush small enough to achieve a swooped and slicked down style.

THE CREATOR
My name is Victoria Murrell and I am currently obtaining my master's degree from Elon University in Interactive Media. I chose to make an Interactive Website about black hair because I want other black girls to see the beauty in their natural hair I couldn't see growing up.
As a child, I have had many traumatizing experiences when it comes to my natural hair. If there was a little black girl perusing through this website you can see black hair celebrated and not degraded.
The Black Hair Museum is has become a passion project because I am a black woman who has tried everything when it comes to hair. Hair isn't only a fashion statement it is a part of what you wear. Black hair gives you the confidence to be unapologetically you. Black hair is bold, beautiful, and timeless.
I sincerely hope you enjoyed this hair experience just as much as I enjoyed creating it. The website has only scratched the surface of the Black Hair Museum.
Keep shining Queen. Your hair is gorgeous, don't let anyone tell you anything different.
