Alaska is the only state with sustainability written into its constitution and has been practicing science-based fisheries management for decades.
All Alaska seafood swim wild and free in icy, pristine waters where they grow at a natural pace, eating only what nature provides. And sustainability is so important to Alaska, it is the only state that has written sustainability into its constitution.
More than half (54%) of consumers say it’s at least somewhat important that what they are buying is produced in an environmentally sustainable way.
When consumers purchase seafood from Alaska, they can feel good knowing they are supporting generations of fishing families dedicated to sustainability and protecting Alaska’s eco-system. During the busy Lenten season, grocers can grab customer interest and boost sales, by sharing information and images of Alaska’s hardworking fishermen and fishing families.
This is especially important and relevant during the busy Lenten season, a peak seafood buying time.
Alaska seafood is not only remarkably diverse, but the highest quality, sourced sustainably in nature.
Several species of fish are in season during Lent, which begins Feb. 26 this year and extends through April 10. Check out the array of species Alaska offers (click to see more):
