Turbo Charging Destination
Picture this: A customer pulls into a c-store’s parking lot, looking to charge his electric vehicle (EV) for a drive of about 100 miles. After just 10 minutes or so (not one hour!) and with enough time to grab a cup of coffee and a snack inside — he has completed his mission and is moving ahead with his day.
Higher gas and oil prices also have savvy c-store operators powering ahead with plans to replace gas pumps with EV chargers or adding EV chargers.
ChargeBox brings everything c-stores need to offer high-power, ultra-fast charging in a short time frame, at charging points that fit the requirements of their specific locations. Everything comes in a turnkey package, with big benefits to c-stores’ business.
all charged up
Why offer EV charging services? Do the math.
Ordinary charging solutions aren’t enough for c-store operators that want to increase the attractiveness of their location and respond to rising EV charging demands. Ultra-fast charging is essential.
McKinsey advises c-stores to:
Not just EV charging…ultra-fast EV charging
SPARKING BIG BUSINESS BENEFITS
MEETING THE NEED FOR SPEED AND POWER
Saving time and money while exceeding the typical need for EV charging speed and power is what ChargeBox — a smart, scalable, battery-buffered technology — is designed to do.
FAST CHARGING EVERYWHERE, COMPROMISE NOWHERE
But ChargeBox EV charging solutions don’t just give c-stores the power to win EV charging customers and keep them coming back for more. They deliver world-class charging performance everywhere, with no need to compromise because of:
Big charging power, small package
Edge dimensions of 1.38 x 1.38 x 1.48 yd make ChargeBox the most compact, efficient fast charging system worldwide. And with an installation area of only 17.2 sq. ft., the ChargeBox Booster requires just 15% of the space of comparable fast charging systems with a connected medium-voltage system.
Expansion? No problem!
Need to adapt ChargeBox to suit individual requirements or upcoming mobility market developments? It’s easy, with no major time or financial outlay. C-stores can even operate two ChargeBox Dispensers on one ChargeBox Booster, providing 160kw of power for ultra-fast charging of EVs when used simultaneously.
Flexible, fast installation — without expensive grid expansion cost
All it takes is a simple connection to an existing 400V grid. Permitting and installation time: only two to three weeks, compared to up to six months for standard alternatives.
Minimal vehicle charging requirements
Both ChargeBox and standard alternative charging systems use the same amount of energy to charge an EV. But because ChargeBox can operate on only 50kw to get the job done, while comparable chargers can’t, using it rings up only minimal charges for peak energy consumption — or eliminates these charges altogether.
Lower total cost of ownership
Minimizing or eliminating peak electricity demand charges, plus substantially lower installation costs, mean a lower TCO.
Hassle-free management
ADS-TEC Energy’s Big-LinX Energy cloud-based energy management system allows remote performance of service and maintenance tasks. Monitoring charging processes and adding charging stations are easy, too.
Future-proof investment
ADS-TEC Energy’s technology is compatible with 150-920V electrical systems. This high voltage means you won’t have to upgrade for a long time.
Internal battery buffer=ultra-fast charging
ChargeBox works with an internal battery buffer that’s filled from c-stores’ existing power grid on a lower power input rate. Battery buffering allows available grid power, however limited it is, to be discharged at rates of up to 320kW. This happens instantly — as soon as the first, second or more cars pull up right after another and connect. Today, no other battery-buffered charger can do this. Full power is immediately available to each car because the charger itself is continuously charging – even while discharging to the car.
The upshot? C-store customers can quickly charge even the most power-hungry EVs on existing power-limited (50kW) electrical grid connections.
Beyond a fast charge
With ChargeBox, c-stores get more than an ultra-fast charging solution — they get a cost-effective one, too. That’s because the solution can be installed without budget-busting, time-intensive power upgrades, and more — not to mention construction delays, permitting, and other obstacles. Paying high electrical demand rates are limited, if not become a thing of the past for EV charging — the system is continuously charging at a slow rate, increasing cost savings and lowering lifetime operating costs.
Only with ChargeBox
ChargeBox features unique advantages over other battery-buffered charging options.
WELL THOUGHT OUT,

Stepping up to the challenge
ADS-TEC partnered with Porsche to meet the challenging charging requirements of the Porsche Taycan, even at lower power grids. A three-year joint development project brought the integration of advanced silicon carbide charging technology with lithium-ion battery buffering, cooling system, and controls — allowing efficient ultra-fast charging without dependence on high-power grids and delivering up to 320kw of charging power even on power-limited grids.
ADS-TEC Energy IS NOT an EV charging company…BUT it provides unmatched technology, hardware, software, and services for charging companies, automotive OEMs, dealers, and fleets

A ‘JOLT’ of EV Charging Power
A strategic partnership between JOLT Energy and ADS-TEC Energy is bringing ADS-TEC Energy’s ChargeBox ultra-fast battery-buffered EV charging stations to major European cities and the U.S.
Supporting a Smooth Transition
ChargeBox is allowing 320kw ultra-fast charging at an Avia gas station operated by Iberdrola in Tolosa, northern Spain.
Higher gas and oil prices lead to sizzling EV sales, and EVs will eventually dominate the automotive landscape.
Shell plans to increase its EV charging points from 60,000 to 500,000 globally by 2025
Consumers want to charge EVs away from home — and will buy other items while enjoying ultra-fast charging
The average owner of one EV brand conducts 2.8 out-of-home EV charging events per week, potentially leading to more c-store trips than with fuel
Take advantage
of growth opportunities
by better leveraging existing c-store real estate and expanding convenience offerings with EV charging
Install ultra-fast charging stations capable of charging at 150kw to 320kw or more
Power grids with limited capacity to provide sufficient instantaneous power for fast charging — many areas offer no more than 50kW to 110kW
Location limitations, such as lack of proximity to power source
Visual and/or noise-related challenges, like close proximity to residential areas
Introducing ADS-TEC Energy’s ChargeBox. The cutting-edge, high-performance, battery-buffered EV charging platform allows ultra-fast, high-voltage EV charging, enabling convenience stores to become a destination for EV drivers at a TCO that’s 30% lower than for a standard, non-battery buffered direct current fast charger.
What’s more, unlike other fast/ultra-fast chargers, ChargeBox is easily and quickly installed — no waits for extensive permitting, costly utility upgrades, alterations to the forecourt, or disruptions to the business and no need to bring 300kw of power to the site to facilitate ultra-fast charging.
