Class ACritical Peaking
A large load that can reduce its electricity consumption during rare and brief grid emergencies lasting five hours or less.
Class BPeaking
A large load that can do everything Class A can do, but is also able to ramp down consumption more routinely, not just during emergencies.
Class CProlonged
Builds on Class A and B by sustaining flexibility over prolonged events, such as transmission-related outages.
Class EFully Grid Responsive
A fully flexible large load can respond to any grid condition, including all capabilities from Classes A through D.
Class DFast
A large load that can also do everything Classes A and B can, but can also reduce consumption with short notification times when the grid needs near-instant support.
