Eversheds Sutherland founded the BDC Roundtable in 2002 to provide a forum for the industry to come together to address common matters related to the structure of business development companies. Hosted in partnership with the Small Business Investor Alliance, the BDC Roundtable is open to all BDC management teams and independent directors, as well as those that are exploring the structure and would like to learn more.

Eversheds Sutherland’s BDC Team
We are one of the leading practices in the country representing BDCs, SBICs, other alternative funds and their advisers. We have worked with a significant percentage of the BDC industry, including many of the large private equity platforms. We are pioneers in the BDC industry, having structured the first non-traded BDC, the first private BDC, the first third-party joint venture and the first multi-class offering, in addition to other novel solutions in response to client needs.
We have a substantial team of more than 20 attorneys focused on BDCs and other alternative fund structures for the benefit of middle market private investment fund managers. Since 2006, we have worked with our clients and underwriters on hundreds of transactions to raise more than $90 billion through IPOs, follow-on equity offerings, convertible debt offerings, unsecured note issuances, privately placed debt and equity and rights offerings.

Small Business Investor Alliance
The Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA) is the premier organization of lower middle market private equity funds and investors. SBIA’s BDC Council is the largest voice for BDCs in Washington DC, representing this growing industry. The BDC Council members provide vital capital to small and medium-sized businesses growing nationwide, resulting in job creation and economic growth. The SBIA believes public policies that help small and midsize businesses gain access to capital are crucial to the nation’s economic growth.
