Reasons you may consider taking a JAK inhibitor for atopic dermatitis:
Top reasons JAK inhibitors may not be right for you:
You have a history of — or are at risk of — blood clots, shingles,
high cholesterol, cancer, or liver or kidney disfunction
You’re at a high risk of infection
You’re pregnant, planning on getting pregnant, or breastfeeding
You’re not up to date on all vaccinations, including those for shingles and TB (however, if your vaccination history is all that’s stopping you from trying a JAK inhibitor, once you get the recommended vaccinations,
you may get the green light from your dermatologist)
You have more severe symptoms
You’re not responding to other medications
You and your doctor believe your eczema symptoms can be better controlled
Your current treatment plan has stopped working
You’re experiencing side effects from your current medication
Atopic dermatitis is affecting your quality of life
You have trouble with injectable medications, or would prefer an
oral option
