Green Light Foods and Drinks for MS
If CAR T-cell therapy isn’t right for you, your care team will determine that before
your T cells are collected, says Riedell. Here are a few reasons that may exclude you:
1
Lean Protein Foods rich in protein strengthen bones and muscles and provide healthy calories for a boost of energy. Try: Beans, chicken and turkey without the skin, eggs, fish, lean beef, lentils, and nuts.
2
Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables provides essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support numerous bodily functions and help prevent other diseases. They’re also packed with fiber, which improves digestion and bowel function. Try: Apples, bananas, berries, broccoli, carrots, corn, green beans, oranges, and spinach.
3
Complex Carbohydrates These “good” carbs provide slow-burning energy, which is helpful when you’re struggling with fatigue. Try: Brown rice, oatmeal, quinoa, and whole-wheat bread.
4
Fluids Drinking 6 to 8 cups every day can improve bladder function and help keep bowels moving. Try: Checking your urine to see if you’re well hydrated; it should be a light straw color.
5
Unsaturated Fats Fats such as olive, avocado, or canola oils can help lower cholesterol and inflammation.
