Your urologist may use what’s called a penile Doppler ultrasound to assess the degree of penile deformity with your erection, to assess blood flow related to the erection, and to determine at the type of scar tissue on your penis. If your PD is in the acute phase — the early stages of the condition, up to anywhere from two weeks to 12 months after the scar or deformity starts — there are non-surgical treatments that can prevent the condition from getting worse and help address the pain and discomfort it causes.
Even if you’re in the chronic phase of the condition, if the curve or bend in your penis is the only noticeable symptom, non-surgical treatments could still help.
